A Sound Garden

Sarcasm ceases
      when it's the only tone you speak;
but the irony was not lost on me
     when they cut you down
            from your pretty noose.
  A hardheaded "fuck you all"
                                             indeed.
It was exactly like suicide,
and now no one will ever
                     sing like you anymore.

  The grass is sometimes greenest
           where the dogs shit,
       and sometimes we wallow
                     with all the other pigs...

So say
    "Hello,"
         to heaven for me,
because I was as low as
              I could get--
         just two drinks away...
   But I climbed down
                  from my cross,
        I've lowered my arms.
                            I'm sober
                             and I want to live.

post-election daze

it's been nearly a week and all i can say is:

today's headlines

the income gap narrows (incredibly)
and the new gilded robber barons
cry out #thanksobama
and prop up their orange faced puppet
with the neo-southern strategy trump card;
while 90's nostalgia, or amnesia,
supports their plutocrat with a vagina;
while the press,
undeserving of their protected freedoms,
fail to serve the public and
speak truth to power,
by calling "bullshit."
meanwhile,
the cops are an occupying force,
"a fucking war machine protecting the wealth of the employing class."
these are not isolated incidents:
the killing of an unarmed bad dude whose car broke down
and a father waiting to pick his kid up after school
while his wife records to protect herself
since their bodycams will only show what
they want us to see...
which is not the truth:
it's the #charlotteuprising.
#charlotteriots is a lie.
parents and children and clergy and atheists, alike,
of all color,
are locking arms and
declaring,
"our streets! no justice, no peace!"
kneeling in nonviolent patriotic protest,
in the face of police in riot gear,
acting as the often ignored conscience of a nation that declares
"liberty and justice for all;"
while in reality,
there's a legal system for the poor
and another for the banker:
one gets incarcerated;
the other gets a $125 million severance package...
because there's always, only ever been the class war;
and when patience wears thin
and tensions boil-over
and the windows of a BoA branch get smashed,
it must be admitted "that a riot is the language of the unheard."

Cable

Marvel's Cable Fanfiction Screenplay
The following is fanfiction.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT - DAY

SUPER: 1484 A.D.

A group on camel is seen riding through the desert. They are
all different nationalities. A few are obviously mutants.
All are armed and look ready for a fight. The group is led
by APOCALYPSE (before being infected by the TECHNO-ORGANIC
VIRUS). The group numbers about fifty. These are
Apocalypse's DARK RIDERS.

The Dark Riders pass.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT - LATER

A figure is seen following the tracks of the Dark Riders.
The figure approaches and is revealed to be CABLE. He has a
full beard and his hair is pulled back into a ponytail. He
stops to look around, then continues.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT, OASIS - DAY

The Dark Riders are stopped at an oasis. Their camels drink
from the pools, as the Riders fill water bags. Apocalypse
and one of the Riders stand off from the others. They scan
the horizon. Suddenly, the oasis is bombarded by rockets.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT, RIDGE - DAY

From a ridge, Cable looks down on the Riders. He takes off
at a sprint and jumps off the edge. While in the air, he
fires off another barrage of rockets. He glides through the
air quickly, but controlled. He covers half of the distance
from the ridge to the oasis. As soon as he lands, he's back
to sprinting.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT, OASIS - SAME

The Riders scramble to their weapons as rockets continue to
explode. Though the scene is chaotic, the Riders move with
the purpose of elite warriors. Some Riders are wounded or
killed, but none show fear. Most are completely unfazed and
form on Apocalypse, awaiting his orders.

                      RIDER
          What are your orders, Apocalypse?

                      APOCALYPSE
I want him alive. I have questions
for this man before I take his
          head.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT, NEAR OASIS - LATER

Cable and the Riders are engaged in battle. Cable is killing
off Riders with brutal efficiency. His technology far
surpasses theirs. When he has to stop to reload, however, a
giant lands a blindside haymaker, sending Cable flying
through the air, hitting the ground hard.

Before Cable can get to his feet, he is surrounded by a
dozen Riders. For a moment, there is a standoff. Then two of
the Riders reach to restrain Cable. He handles them easily.
Two more follow and Cable continues to fight. Then two more
follow, and two more, and two more, until he is out
numbered, severely beaten, and finally incapacitated and
restrained.

Apocalypse approaches the group. As he nears, the Riders
part, clearing him a path to Cable.

                      APOCALYPSE
My oracle said you have been
following us for some time, now.

                      CABLE
It's been much longer than that, En
          Sabah Nur.

                      APOCALYPSE
I haven't heard that name in over a
          millennium. Who are you, Traveler?

                      CABLE
The name's 'Cable.' I've come to
          kill you.

                      APOCALYPSE
Ah. I recognize you, now. I've
          survived assassins and outlasted
rulers from kingdoms all over this
planet. And I have survived you,
before. I am the fittest. I will
          survive long after you have
          returned to dust, mortal.

Apocalypse draws his sword.

                      APOCALYPSE
For your hubris, I sentence you to
          death!

Apocalypse swings his sword.

                      CABLE
          Bodyslide by one. HQ.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable disappears, leaving a few confused
survivors and an enraged Apocalypse, standing in the carnage
of the attack.

                                             CUT TO:

EXT. RESEARCH FACILITY - DAY

POV - BINOCULARS.

SUPER: Present Day.

An explosion rips through a research facility in the
distance.

                      DEADPOOL
                (OC)
          KABOOM! HAHAHAHA! Well, anti-McFly,
since you're still here I guess
that wasn't the end of it, huh?

PAN OUT TO REVEAL:

Cable (hair high and tight and shaved face) takes the
binoculars from his eyes and looks over his shoulder.

                      CABLE
Money's on the dresser. It's been
          fun, toots. Got to go.

DEADPOOL mock dotes.

                      DEADPOOL
You're too good to me, daddy.

                      CABLE
          Bodyslide by one.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable disappears. Deadpool is left by
himself.

                      DEADPOOL
H-hey! You're just gonna leave me
like that? We never talk or spoon
or do anything romantic anymore! I
can't even remember the last time
you bought me a chimichanga. Not to
          mention...

                      FURY
                (OC - Over radio)
          Did you bug him?

                      DEADPOOL
Did I bug him? I bugged the hell
          out of him. HAHAHAHA.

                      FURY
                (OC)
          You hear me laughing?

                      DEADPOOL
Okay okay okay. Yes. I planted the
disrupter or whatever. Just so you
know, I'm betting he's going to
throw a hissy fit. You know he's
not exactly known for his sense of
humor. So uh, have fun with that.

ACTION PAUSES: Deadpool breaks the fourth wall to talk to
the audience.

                      DEADPOOL
Okay. Hi, folks. Good to see you,
again. Thank you, for coming to see
my movies. They made all of this
          possible. For this movie, though,
just call me, 'Bob;' not 'Henchman
Bob,' but another 'Bob.' Now, for
those of you who aren't familiar
with the Marvel IP explored in this
film, I'm going to fill you in on
          who Nathan Christopher Charles
Summers, or Nathan Dayspring, or a
          couple other names... Those who
know him best call him 'Priscilla.'
Anyway, Cable. I'll let you know
who this lug is. For you fanboys
and fangirls out there, just keep
your fucking mouths shut and your
          online comments to yourselves,
okay? This is the story and we're
sticking to it. Now without further
          ado...

                                             DISSOLVE TO:

MONTAGE - CHARACTER INTRO: X-MEN

As Deadpool speaks, the action he describes occurs on
screen:

Begin with a collage of the X-Men (using the comics, the
animated series, and the movies) to introduce the X-Men
characters. Continue with scenes of Jean/Phoenix.

                      DEADPOOL
                (VO)
Alright, so I'm not going to spoil
anything for you, just catch you
up. You all know the X-Men, right?
Making well over a billion, with a
fucking 'b,' at the box office with
their last three movies, shit yeah
you people know the X-Men. Am I
right or am I right? Anyway. They
did this whole space thing, which
led to Jean Grey taking on the
          Phoenix persona...

Wait. I have to back up a bit; only
          a few centuries... or millennia...
          It'll only take a second, and it's
          important to this screenplay.

                                             DISSOLVE TO:

MONTAGE - CHARACTER INTRO: MR SINISTER AND APOCALYPSE

Mr. Sinister is seen abducting homeless people and doing
twisted experiments. Apocalypse is seen standing as a
Babylonian god.

                      DEADPOOL
                (VO cont.)
So there's these two guys: Mr.
          Sinister and Apocalypse. Don't let
          their names fool you; they're
actually very sweet. The three of
us volunteer at soup kitchens on
          the weekends.

                                             CUT TO:

EXT. RESEARCH FACILITY - SAME

Deadpool laughs at the camera.

                      DEADPOOL
HAHAHA. Right. Me. The Merc with
          the Mouth, volunteer... I couldn't
say that with a straight face...
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Okay. So.
Long story short, Apocalypse is a
          frickin' immortal. Mr. Sinister is
          a frickin' super-genius in all
          things, including mutant
          genetics... Also, he's an s-hole
          who deprives honest hardworking
          mercenaries of their livelihood.

                                             CUT TO:

EXT. SLUM - DAY

Deadpool is suddenly in a SLUM holding an ORPHAN wearing a
DEADPOOL MASK. "In the Arms of Angels," by Sarah McLachlan
begins to play, as he slowly walks around. Interspersed
scenes of various ORPHANPOOLS playing with guns are seen as
he speaks.

                      DEADPOOL
Though with your donation of just a
hundred thousand dollars a day, you
can help make sure these brave men
and women can afford the bullets
          and chimichangas they so
          desperately need.

                                             RETURN TO:

EXT. RESEARCH FACILITY - SAME

Deadpool is still talking.

                      DEADPOOL
Of course, they have a long
          standing beef. Really long
          standing, like centuries and shit.
It's actually kind of funny, when
you think about it. They started
          out working together, since they
          are both Social Darwinists; but,
irony, they wound up at each
          other's throats, wait for it,
          because they are both Social
          Darwinists, believing in the
          survival of the fittest, and
believing themselves to be the most
          fit. Ha! What schmucks! So,
actually, I know you all know I was
kidding about them being sweet, but
fuck that, I'm going to take it
back anyway. These guys are both
          grade A dicks.

                                             DISSOLVE TO:

MONTAGE - CHARACTER INTRO: X-MEN - CONTINUED

The X-Men are in a crisis in space, in the BLACKBIRD. Jean
encounters the Phoenix. The Phoenix takes over Jean.
Jean/Phoenix plunges the Blackbird into the ocean. The X-Men
mourn. Mr. Sinister creates MADELYNE PRYOR (Jean's clone).
Scott and Madelyne spend time together. BABY NATHAN is seen
with his parents and the other X-Men. Cable is seen fighting
both Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse.

                      DEADPOOL
                (VO)
So, anyway. Where was I? Oh yeah.
Jean Grey was inhabited by the
Phoenix and saved the X-Men, but
plunged into the sea to heal from
          her injuries, leaving everyone to
believe she was dead... Oh, so I
guess spoilers for any of you
behind the times folks. I guess I
could have phrased that better, but
whatever. Fuck it. You can leave,
go watch those movies and cartoons,
and read the comics, and come back
to watch this movie. Trust me, this
theater and Marvel will gladly take
your money a second time. I'm not
          waiting though...

          Surprise! She wasn't dead, just
          healing. But! Cyclops, a.k.a. Scott
Summers, thought she was. We'll not
get into the history of Scott and
Mr. Sinister. Suffice it to say,
          from Mr. Sinister's experiments, he
figured out that Scott and Jean's
          baby would be the
                (in voice of The Simpsons
                 Comic Book Guy)
          Most. Powerful. Mutant. Ever.

He figured he could capture the
infant, raise him as his own and
train him to kill Apocalypse. But,
Jean Grey wasn't available at the
time, being at the bottom of the
sea and all. So, Sinister made
Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean
Grey; and then set her and Cyclops
up on a blind date. Get it? Blind
          date, because he's... What's that?
He's not blind? Hmmm. How can he
see when his eyes shoot frickin'
lasers? Know what? Don't care. It's
a stupid power. You'd never catch
me shooting fucking lasers out of
          my... Eh-hem.

Whatever. Fuck it. He fell for her.
          They bumped uglies and Nathan
          Christopher Charles Summers was
born. Yes, Professor X is one of
          his namesakes because that's just
how far Scott Summers' nose is up
          Xavier's ass. Sorry, but someone
had to say it--right, Team Wolvie?

          Anyway, Mr. Sinister's ploy worked
          and the super-super-child, who he
          hoped would help him defeat
          Apocalypse, was born... It didn't
work out so much on the helping him
part; but Cable does really really
          fucking hate Apocalypse.

                                             DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. RESEARCH FACILITY SET - CONTINUED

Deadpool is talking to the camera, ON SET. The DIRECTOR is
motioning for him to wrap it up, also pantomiming stitching
his mouth. Deadpool notices what he is doing.

                      DEADPOOL
There's a whole thing with the
          Techno-Organic Virus and some
          really confusing shit with
          time-travel, but I'm being told
that's what this movie is supposed
to be about and I should shut my
fat mouth before I spoil things, or
          it'll be stitched shut, again.
                (Looking off screen)
Whoa. What the fuck, guys? Don't
          even joke like that. Really!
                (Back to camera)
So, I guess that's it for now.
                (Walking off set, to
                 himself)
I mean, hasn't anyone seen the
shush ending? Cheese and rice, I'm
never going to live that down...

                                             CROSSFADE:

INT. SHIELD CARRIER, FURY'S OFFICE - DAY

NICK FURY turns to GW BRIDGE.

                      FURY
We'll be able to send him to your
team directly. We've also lent you
two of the Avengers. You know he's
going to be majorly pissed, right?
Deadpool said, quote, he's going to
throw a hissy fit. Are you going to
be ready to deal with that?

                      BRIDGE
I'll have to be. I don't see him
          coming in any other way.

                      FURY
Alright. I'll give you five minutes
to get over there; then we'll send
          him to you.

INT. SHIELD CARRIER, OTHER SECTION - SAME

Iron Man and Spider-Man are joined by several armed
soldiers.

                      SPIDER-MAN
          So, why are we here?

                      IRON MAN
We're supposed to be helping Bridge
put a stop to Cable? Or something.
          I don't know. You know how Fury's
droning on and on at briefings just
makes my brain go elsewhere. I did
get to play with some cool tech,
though... so it's not a complete
          waste.

                      SPIDER-MAN
          Cable? Why?

                      IRON MAN
I don't know, maybe Bridge wants to
          switch to satellite.

                      SPIDER-MAN
Ha. Funny. But really. I've teamed
up with Cable and his X-Force...

A BOX at the top of the screen appears and Deadpool sticks
his head out. He is wearing glasses and a mustache, a la
Stan Lee.

                      STANPOOL
          It's true, Super-fans! Your
          favorite Web-slinger teamed up with
the Man of Mystery in Spider-Man
          #16 and X-Force #4, The Sabotage
          Crossover...

Just then, a drink flies through the air and hits Deadpool
in the face. It comes from off camera, as if from the
audience. The drink knocks off the glasses and mustache.

                      DEADPOOL
That's it! No more being helpful!
Screw you guys! I was trying to get
some of the exposition out of the
way so you can watch shit go boom,
          since the cinematic genius Michael
Bay has proven time and again that
that's all you people care about.
          Which, other than bouncing boobies,
          jiggling titties, what else is
          really worth watching? But, you
know what? Fuck you. I'm going to
go watch Two Guys, a Girl, and a
          Pizza Place. Hello, Traylor Howard!

The box disappears and Iron Man and Spider-man look around.

                      IRON MAN
Did you hear something just then?

Spidey shrugs.

                      IRON MAN
          Never mind. Go on.

                      SPIDER-MAN
He seems like a good guy, a bit
grumpy and serious; but why the
welcome party? Also, is it even
          safe to reroute someone while
          they're teleporting?

Just then:

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears.

                      CABLE
          What the?! Professor, where the
          hell did you send me?

Immediately, Cable draws his weapons. The soldiers all take
aim. There is a tense standoff.

                      CABLE
          Bodyslide by one, HQ.

Nothing happens.

                      CABLE
          Shit.

GW Bridge steps to the front.

                      BRIDGE
          You're lucky I don't put you down
right here; but we need you,
          Nathan.

                      CABLE
          Could've sent an e-vite.

                      BRIDGE
          Would you have come?

                      CABLE
          Probably not.

The air is tense.

                      IRON MAN
So... What are we doing here,
          Commander?

                      BRIDGE
          It's alright. Stand down.

Iron Man and Spider-Man relax. The soldiers lower their
weapons.

                      CABLE
Well, George, I didn't figure on
hearing from you any time soon.

                      BRIDGE
And believe me, Nathan, if there
was any other way, I'd choose it.
          There's been some serious chatter
recently. Stryfe and the MLF are
          planning something big.

                      CABLE
And? Don't you have your own super
team to handle that sort of thing?

                      BRIDGE
We need a more tactical approach.
          We need this kept quiet.

                      CABLE
I guess destroying half of Hell's
          Kitchen wasn't exactly discrete,
          huh? Or having private tiffs
          between super-heroes lead to
          civilian casualties.

                      IRON MAN
And where the hell were you when
all of that was going down? I
didn't see you putting your ass on
          the line...

                      SPIDER-MAN
          Tony, ease up.

                      IRON MAN
No, I won't. Just who the hell does
          this guy think he is?

                      CABLE
Did I hurt your feelings, playboy?

                      BRIDGE
Look. You all should clear out. I
need to talk to Cable, alone.

Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the soldiers leave.

INT. SHIELD CARRIER - CONTINUOUS

                      CABLE
Alright, George. You got me alone.
Say what you need to say.

                      BRIDGE
Shit is serious. It's the sort of
shit that only you thrive in, or I
          wouldn't be speaking with you.

                      CABLE
I'm touched. Get to the point.

                      BRIDGE
          Against my recommendations, Fury
          has reassembled Six Pack.

                      CABLE
Nick never was one for listening to
          other people's opinions.

                      BRIDGE
          Some things never change.

                      CABLE
          So, what's the mission?

                      BRIDGE
We have reason to believe the
          Mutant Liberation Front is gearing
up for something big; but we don't
          know exactly what.

                      CABLE
Some things never change. So, I'm
guessing it's an observe and report
mission? You can find someone else
          to be your rent-a-cop. Not
          interested.

                      BRIDGE
No. We want you to take out the
          MLF. Eliminate the threat.

                      CABLE
          Hunt and kill. That's pretty bold;
especially for the new and improved
          family-friendly SHIELD.

                      BRIDGE
Is that moral judgement coming from
a man who doesn't care the
          slightest about sacrificing others,
since we're all long dead, where he
          comes from?

                      CABLE
Look, I'm not judging. What did
          Fury say?

                      BRIDGE
          He said, 'sometimes, rabid fucking
dogs have to be put the fuck down.'

                      CABLE
I'd ask what made you guys come to
this conclusion so late in the
game, but I don't care. Sometimes
the ends justify the means, no
matter the cost to your soul. Who's
          on my team?

                      BRIDGE
A lot of people you've worked with
          before; a few you haven't.

                      CABLE
It's a team of six, including me.
What do you mean, 'a lot of
people?' Never mind. Who are they?

MONTAGE - CHARACTER INTRO: SIX PACK

As Bridge lists the team members, each is shown in action,
displaying their special abilities.

                      BRIDGE
                (VO)
          Havok, Alex Summers, Scott's little
          brother.

                      CABLE
                (VO)
          Cyclops' little brother. Great. Who
          else?

                      BRIDGE
                (VO)
          Domino...

                      CABLE
                (VO)
Ok. She and I are back on good
terms; I think. Anyway, I can trust
her in the field. Go on.

                      BRIDGE
                (VO)
          Eh-hem. Deadpool.

                                             CUT TO:

INT. SHIELD CARRIER - SAME

Bridge and Cable are talking back and forth.

                      CABLE
          Wade?

                      BRIDGE
          Yes.

                      CABLE
Are you kidding me? He knew the
          whole time?

                      BRIDGE
          Yes. He's betting you'll 'throw a
          hissy fit,' his words.

Cable takes a deep breath.

                      CABLE
What did you do to my gear?

                      BRIDGE
We had Stark reverse engineer a
          disrupter.

                      CABLE
How long will I be jammed?

                      BRIDGE
Until you agree to take the job.

                      CABLE
          Alright. I'll do it.

                      BRIDGE
You haven't heard the rest of the
          team.

                      CABLE
You gave me the goddamn Mouth. And
he was in on it the whole time. How
          much worse can it get?

                      BRIDGE
I insist. It's best for you to be
          fully briefed.

                      CABLE
Alright. Who else? Two left. Who
could you get that I would need
to... Oh shit. Really? What the
          hell is Fury thinking?

                      BRIDGE
Do I need to tell you?

                      CABLE
          No, but you will anyway.

                                             RETURN TO:

MONTAGE - CHARACTER INTRO: SIX PACK, CONTINUED

                      BRIDGE
                (VO)
          Garrison Kane, A.K.A. 'Weapon X.'

                      CABLE
                (VO)
I get two Weapon X's. Lucky me.
          Must be Domino's influence, or
Canada must really owe SHIELD. So,
          number six is Eisenhower Canty?

                      BRIDGE
                (VO)
          A.K.A. 'Hammer.'

                                             CUT TO:

INT. SHIELD CARRIER - SAME

Cable and Bridge are talking.

                      CABLE
Can I at least request a seventh
          for support?

                      BRIDGE
Why? You can't get the job done,
just the six of you? Who do you
          have in mind?

                      CABLE
What's old Forge been up to?

                      BRIDGE
He's fallen off of our radar,
recently. We believe he may have
been killed. Details are thin, at
          best.

                      CABLE
          It's 2016, right?

                      BRIDGE
          Of course, why?

                      CABLE
Never mind. I'm still here, so it
          doesn't matter. What's our time
          frame?

                      BRIDGE
          Immediately. If you're ready, the
rest of the team is waiting in Bay
          6.

                      CABLE
          Do I have a choice?

INT. SHIELD CARRIER, BAY 6 - A LITTLE LATER

Cable and Bridge enter Bay 6. The rest of the team is
assembled and waiting.

                      DEADPOOL
          Look, Mom! I'm on a super-hero
team! God, I hope it doesn't suck
          like last time.

                      CABLE
          A 'hissy fit,' Slade?

                      DEADPOOL
Hey, now! That's uncalled for. Low
          blow. Low blow.

                      DOMINO
          Hey there, stranger!

                      CABLE
          Dom, how have you been?

                      DOMINO
          Oh you know... I'm alive.
          Deadpool's mouth hasn't killed me
          yet, so...

                      DEADPOOL
Fuck you, both. Really. You want to
see me talk? I'll show you.

Deadpool continues to ramble and talk, half interjecting,
half talking just to hear the sound of his own voice.

Cable continues to greet the team.

                      CABLE
You must be Alex. You definitely
          resemble your brother.

                      HAVOK
I'll take that as a complement.

                      DEADPOOL
It could probably go both ways. Is
anyone else really weirded out by
          the overlapping tensions, here? Is
it just me? Cable? Aren't you
weirded out? I mean, it's got to be
the first time that you're seeing
Hammer and Kane since, well, you
know... And is this the first time
          you're meeting your uncle? I wish I
had a camera to document this
          momentous occasion.

Oh, was that a spoiler? My bad if
          it was.

Havok looks surprised.

                      CABLE
I wish someone would stitch your
          mouth shut.

                      DEADPOOL
They tried that once... It didn't
go so well. Why can't people drop
that? I mean, could I have said
'no' to whoring myself out like
that? No. Of course not. Do you
know how much they offered me?
Let's just say, g4p kind of cash...
So, I guess, never enough for the
          shame...

Cable ignores Deadpool and walks over to Hammer.

                      CABLE
Eisenhower. It's good to see that
          you're out of the wheelchair.

                      DEADPOOL
          Awkward.

Cable punches Deadpool, knocking him off-screen.

                      HAMMER
Yeah. You'd be amazed by how far
cybernetics have come in the last
          few decades. Well, you probably
          wouldn't be amazed. Anyway. You
don't have to worry about me. I get
why you did what you did. I'm not
saying that we won't have to
address it at some point; but now
ain't the time. Mission time is all
          business. We're good.

Both exchange a look of acknowledgement and pat each other
on the shoulder.

                      CABLE
Pleasure to be heading out to the
          field with you, again.

Kane stands talking to Bridge.

                      CABLE
          Garrison.

                      KANE
          Save it.

                      CABLE
Look, kid. I did what needed to be
done. I'm not proud of it, but I
          won't apologize, either. I don't
know why Fury put you and Hammer on
this team, but I need to know that
you can be trusted to get the job
          done.

                      BRIDGE
We've already discussed it. Kane is
here to get the job done.

                      CABLE
Glad we all understand each other.

                                             CUT TO:

INT. BAY 6 - A LITTLE LATER

Cable stands in front of the group, addressing them all.

                      CABLE
          We have credible intel suggesting
that Stryfe and the MLF have been
          manufacturing a bio-weapon. We have
scant details about the weapon or
          its capabilities, but that's not
our concern. This is a shoot first,
ask questions later sort of deal.
Our primary mission is to take out
the MLF. We want the bodies
          confirmed. No chances for escape.

After we've dropped them, our next
goal is to get as much information
as we can about the weapon from
their base. Then we make a crater
out of it, destroying the weapon in
          the process.

Last thing, intel shows that they
          have a disrupter field preventing
us from bodysliding in; so they
          probably expect us. We'll be
          jumping in, instead. LZ isn't
supposed to be hot, but that can
          always turn.

Deadpool is mimicking and mocking Cable as he speaks. He
stops and flashes Deadpool a look.

                      CABLE
Alright people. There's no grey in
this one. You all have been
          briefed. No prisoners. It's going
to be ugly from the beginning. You
were all chosen because you have
          reputations for shoveling shit.
That's why we're here. If anyone
          doesn't have the stomach for
          this...

                      DEADPOOL
Man! I just remembered. I brought
          lunch!

Deadpool pulls out a brown paper bag with a chimichanga
wrapped in foil. He looks at the camera as he unwraps the
foil.

                      DEADPOOL
                (To the camera)
          Chimi-fuckin-changa.

Deadpool starts to devour the chimichanga.

                      CABLE
          Eh-hem.

                      DEADPOOL
What? Dude. I'm hungry right now.
You know I got the stomach for it.
I'm looking forward to slaying some
          milfs.

                      CABLE
I think your inability to take this
          seriously is because you're scared.

                      DEADPOOL
Whatever, I'm being paid, right? I
eat shit like this for breakfast.

                      KANE
          You eat shit for breakfast?

                      DEADPOOL
You know what I mean. Fuck you,
          hoser.

                      CABLE
Alright. Go get packed up. We leave
in an hour. Dismissed. Wade, stay
          behind.

                      DEADPOOL
          Don't have a cow, man. I ain't
          writing shit on any chalkboards.

Cable watches the others leave, waiting for them to be out
of earshot. Deadpool thumbs his nose behind Cable's back.
Without turning, Cable snatches Deadpool's hand and breaks
his fingers. Deadpool holds up his hand, his fingers hang in
awkward angles.

                      DEADPOOL
          Ow! Holy Saint Christopher that
          hurts! What the hell, man?

                      CABLE
Why didn't you let me know about
          this?

                      DEADPOOL
Aren't you the one always going on
about your 'recscans' with an air
          of know-it-all superiority?

                      CABLE
You know that's not how it works. I
          have broad information about the
timeline of the past; but wherever
I am is the present and the quantum
variants in time prevent me from
          knowing everything.

Deadpool stares blankly.

                      CABLE
          I'm not a god. I experience the
          present just like anyone else...
          except maybe you.

                      DEADPOOL
Thanks. So, then, from what you do
          know, how bad is it?

                      CABLE
          Really bad.

                      DEADPOOL
How many times have you tried
          playing it out?

                      CABLE
          I've lost count.

                      DEADPOOL
          What happens?

                      CABLE
          A deadly virus is released.

                      DEADPOOL
Shit. Has SHIELD ever tapped you to
          help?

                      CABLE
          Yes, but it's always been
          voluntary. So, again, why didn't
you give me a heads up?

                      DEADPOOL
They paid me not to. Duh. Now, can
I go to the gun porn load up
          montage?

                      CABLE
          Go on.

MONTAGE - SIX PACK LOADING UP

The armory is the size of a football field. Half is covered
by rows upon rows of racks with all sorts of guns and ammo
hanging and stacked. The other half contains artillery and
light vehicles. The team, except for Deadpool, all stand at
various tables inspecting guns, with more laid out to be
inspected. Deadpool wanders through the armory.

END MONTAGE

INT. SHIELD CARRIER, ARMORY - DAY

The camera pans suggestively, to sounds of some sweet
baby-making music, as Deadpool flirts with and rubs on and
touches and humps the guns and artillery and vehicles.

INT. SHIELD CARRIER, ARMORY - SAME

SUDDEN PULL BACK:

The music stops, leaving the sounds of leather rubbing on
metal and Deadpool's dirty talk and sex grunts to fill the
awkward silence. The rest of Six Pack are fully loaded and
watching Deadpool with mixed expressions of confusion,
embarrassment, and impatience as he gesticulates with
various firearms.

                      CABLE
Damnit, Wade! We don't have time
          for this!

Deadpool snaps around, like he was just walked-in on.

                      DEADPOOL
Oh! You guys were still in here.
          Hmm. The whole time? Right?

Deadpool looks back and forth between the others and the
guns.

                      DEADPOOL
Okay. Just give me another minute
and I'll catch up. Anyone carrying
          any Kleenex on them?

                                             CUT TO:

INT. C-135 CARGO BAY - LATER

The team, except for Cable, are all in the cargo bay,
checking gear and strapping on jetpacks.

Deadpool stands next to Domino.

                      DEADPOOL
Dom, you're probably the only other
person here that sees all the
          undercurrents of animosity. Aren't
you worried? At all? Even a little?
That this could all end very very
          badly?

                      DOMINO
Not really. If it goes south, I
won't have to listen to you
          anymore.

                      DEADPOOL
Oh, come on. Har-har. Really. You
          know what I'm talking about.
          Whatever.

Just then, Cable comes from the cockpit.

                      CABLE
          Alright. We're 15 minutes out.
Check your gear and be ready.

INT. C-135 CARGO BAY - A LITTLE LATER

Everyone is lined up and ready.

                      CABLE
Alright, let's go! Dom, you and
          Deadpool take the point.

Domino and Deadpool move to the open bay door. They do a
last check and jump.

                      CABLE
Alright. Kane. Hammer. You guys are
          up.

Both do the same, leaving Cable and Havok.

                      CABLE
Alright, kid. I know your brother
          wouldn't approve of this mission...

                      HAVOK
          I'm my own man, sir.

                      CABLE
Good to hear. Let's go get some.

Both jump.

EXT. DROP ZONE - CONTINUOUS

Domino and Deadpool touch down. They take positions
surveying the area. Domino looks through binoculars.

                      DOMINO
                (Into headset)
LZ is clear. Seven guards are
posted outside of the base. I'm
          detecting sensors and energy
          shields. Waiting on you guys.

                      DEADPOOL
          But seriously. It doesn't bother
you that two of our group members
          were nearly killed, while Cable
          just up and walked away?

A RED THOUGHT SQUARE pops up. Deadpool's voice reads what's
printed in it.

                      THOUGHT
                (Deadpool's voice)
HA HA HA HA HA. Oh come on, Wade.
Who are you trying to fool? You
          don't care. Ditch the script.
There's only one thing they want to
          see...

                      DEADPOOL
Get out! Get out! Get out! Get out
of my head, you bastard! I'm a side
          character in this one. Important,
          for sure; but Best Supporting
Actor, at best. They paid. So,
accept it and take a hike,
          non-canonical meta-ubermensch. The
only killing I'm doing is what I'm
          responsible for, under contract.
          I'm following the script. Playing
my part. I don't care about what
          they want to see...

                      DOMINO
What who wants to see? Who are you
          talking to?

                      DEADPOOL
          Hmm? Uh. Myself?

                      DOMINO
Look. No one asked you. So. Just
          drop it.

                      DEADPOOL
          My lips are sealed.

                      DOMINO
I'm not sure I'd believe that even
if I saw your mouth stitched shut.

                      DEADPOOL
Jesus. You, too? Do you even get
that reference? Gah. Fuck it. Never
mind. I'll drop it. It's dropped.
You won't hear me talking about how
          we're one-third a team of people
who might want to revenge frag the
team leader. Shit, if we count me
and you--which, let's be honest, we
tried at least once to kill
Summers, paycheck or no. That means
          it's a dirty two-thirds of a six
pack; which before the whole mutate
          healing thing, thanks Wolvie, used
to be a good buzz. It honestly
doesn't sound like much fun to me
right now; more like a lot of work.
And then there's his uncle... who
          probably didn't know that he's
          Cable's uncle, because Nathan
Summers hasn't even been born, yet.
Wait. Has he been born yet? I
thought he was born in the late
eighties; but with all the retcons
          and multiple timelines, it's hard
to keep this shit straight in my
          head. Regardless. It's dropped.
Dropped like it's hot. Dropped like
a mic. Dropped like bombs over
          Baghdad. Dropped like fire-bombs
          over Dresden. Dropped like nuclear
bombs on Bikini Island. Dropped. No
more out of me... about the things
I'm not going to talk about--

                      DOMINO
          Jesus, Wade! Can it.

                      DEADPOOL
          My bad.

The rest of Six Pack land. They form up and start moving
toward the MLF Base.

EXT. OUTSIDE MLF BASE - A FEW MINUTES LATER

The team stops and huddles.

                      DEADPOOL
                (To Cable)
          Okay, Fearless Leader Jr. What's
          the plan?

                      CABLE
                (To Deadpool)
Don't ever call me that, again.
(To the rest of Six Pack)
Now, we got to take out the energy
          field blocking me from bodysliding;
then the guards; and then we need
to get inside. Preferably, we do
          all of this quietly.

As Cable is speaking, Deadpool pulls out a cartoonishly
large (but realistic-ish looking) rocket launcher. The
others are surprised and somewhat confused as to where it
even came from.

                      CABLE
          What the hell is that?!

                      DOMINO
Where the hell were you hiding
          that?

                      DEADPOOL
          It's my rocket propelled
          electromagnetic pulse grenade
          launcher. I call it my R-P-E-M-P-G;
          or B-F-G, for short. Watch.

Deadpool fires the rocket launcher, which sends a projectile
over the base. The projectile flashes and all lights go out,
temporarily; but then emergency lights turn on, followed by
sirens.

                      DEADPOOL
Huh. So much for quiet... Uh. Oops?

                      CABLE
          Damnit, Wade!

                      DOMINO
          You are just the worst.

                      KANE
          You didn't think they'd have
          emergency backup power? Good going,
          hoser.

                      DEADPOOL
Hey hey hey. Before you complain
about me rocking a piss on your
poutine, I was getting lonely; and
          look, we have playmates.

Henchmen level guards swarm out of the base.

                      CABLE
Alright. Hammer, you and Kane lay
          down some suppression fire. We'll
make our way up to the compound.

Hammer opens fire with his minigun. Kane fires from guns
popping out of his cybernetic arms. The rest of the team run
toward the compound.

EXT. MLF BASE - SAME

Five armed guards stand on a catwalk. Deadpool turns to the
rest of the team.

                      DEADPOOL
Okay. I got these guys. I never
pass on a chance to showoff my
          skills on the walk...

The rest of the team continues on, while Deadpool scales up
the catwalk and draws his swords. As he slashes through the
guards, he sings "I'm Too Sexy," by Right Said Fred.

                      DEADPOOL
                (singing)
I'm a model, you know what I mean.
And I do my little turn on the
catwalk. Yeah, on the catwalk. On
the catwalk, yeah. I shake my
          little tush on the catwalk.

Deadpool slashes through four of the guards. He swings his
sword to decapitate the FINAL GUARD, but stops, suddenly
recognizing him.

                      DEADPOOL
Bob?! Oh, jeez, Bob. You really put
me in a pickle. We're supposed to
kill everyone. Why didn't you call
me? I didn't know you had a new
job. How ya been? Putting on a few
          pounds. That devil tuna casserole,
          eh?

As Deadpool talks to BOB, gunfire bursts are heard. Then a
flash is seen. After the flash, Deadpool grabs Bob and puts
him in a sleeper hold.

                      DEADPOOL
Oh. Shit. I got to go. Say 'hello'
to the fam for me. Sorry I missed
          Thanksgiving. I'll be there this
          year, for sure.

As Deadpool speaks, Bob goes limp. Deadpool stashes Bob and
takes off after the rest of Six Pack.

INT. MLF BASE, CORRIDOR - A LITTLE LATER

Sirens are wailing. Henchmen are running around. All of a
sudden:

There is an explosion, causing a giant hole in a wall. Six
Pack storm in, guns blazing.

                      CABLE
We're getting slowed down by these
pawns. Hammer, clear things out for
          us.

                      HAMMER
          Sure thing. Cover me.

Hammer pulls out an electrician's toolkit. He unscrews a
panel and attaches a device to some wires.

                      HAMMER
We should get out of here.

                      CABLE
I got you. Bodyslide by six.

SHYMMM. Flash! The team disappears.

INT. MLF BASE, CORRIDOR - SAME

Just then there is another flash and electricity arcs all
over the corridor, from every surface. Henchmen are
electrocuted. The lights pop and explode.

                                             CUT TO:

INT. MLF BASE, DEEPER - SAME

SHYMMM. Flash! The team appears. They are deeper in the
compound.

Tztztz. A giant circular portal suddenly opens, revealing
ZERO followed by REAPER, WILDSIDE, PYRO, and FOREARM, who
jump through the portal.

                      REAPER
Well well well. What have we got
          here?

                      CABLE
We're the new Six Pack and this
time we're here to put an end to
          the MLF.

                      PYRO
Well of course you are, darling.

As Pyro says this, he lets out a blast of fire from his
flamethrowers. At the same time, Cable opens fire, shooting
Pyro in the head, killing him instantly.

                      CABLE
          Don't call me 'darling.'

                      DEADPOOL
          Huh. Deja vu.

Deadpool looks at the camera and plays air guitar as the
X-Men: The Animated Series theme riff plays.

                      REAPER
          Shit! Fall back!

Zero opens a portal. Tztztz.

                      CABLE
Quick! Take out the android so they
          can't teleport out.

Reaper steps into the portal just as Domino blasts Zero
through the circle on its face, blowing a hole out that
matches the circle. The portal closes immediately, slicing
Reaper from his left shoulder to his right knee. Reaper
falls to the ground in a pool of blood, his entrails falling
out. Deadpool stands above him.

                      DEADPOOL
Ooh. I bet that hurts. Let me tell
you what; I got my scrotum caught
in my zipper one time... I was
          going commando because I didn't
feel like doing laundry... It was
terrible. I was sure I had torn my
sack open. All I could see in my
head was my left testicle falling
out and rolling on the floor. God,
it makes me a little nauseous just
          remembering it.

He shoots Reaper in the head, killing him, as he looks
through the hole in Zero's head and laughs.

                      DEADPOOL
Is anyone else getting a bit of a
kill chub? Or is that just another
gun I have stashed in my pants?

He pulls his pants at the belt and looks down.

                      DEADPOOL
          Nope. Definitely sporting a raging
          semi.

Just then, Deadpool is clobbered by Forearm, sending him
flying across the room. Cable and Domino both open fire,
hitting Forearm several times, killing him.

Wildside leaps through the air to pounce on Cable from
behind. Kane shoots Wildside in mid-air. Wildside hits the
ground hard. He is mortally wounded, but not killed. Cable
uses telekinesis to lift him.

                      CABLE
          I'd say you've got maybe a handful
of breaths left in you. You can be
smart and tell us where Stryfe is,
and I'll give you mercy; or you can
be stupid and have an agonizing
          death.

Wildside spits blood in Cable's face and laughs. He stares
at him, giving a low growl. Cable gives a smirk.

                      CABLE
You must be pretty desperate. You
don't often try to disrupt your
opponent's sense of reality, if you
can use your bare hands to inflict
enough pain to cause terror. It
          doesn't matter, though. It won't
          work on me.

Cable looks Wildside deep in the eyes.

                      CABLE
I know we've faced off many times
before, Wildside; but you see, you
have a false impression of me... I
          typically hold back...

As he speaks, Wildside begins to cry out in pain. The
Techno-Organic infection on Cable's left side slightly
spreads. Cable's eyes begin to glow.

                      CABLE
I am far more powerful than you
know or can even imagine. Now, tell
me what I want to know, and I'll
end it quick; or I'll draw it out
of you, and drag this on until I
          get bored of your screams.

                      DEADPOOL
Jesus, Summers. It just got way
dark! Remind me never to get on
          your bad side...

                      WILDSIDE
It doesn't matter. You're too late.
          You can't stop--

                      CABLE
          I have what I need.

Wildside gives out an agonized howl, before Cable lets his
lifeless body drop with a thud.

                      CABLE
          Bodyslide by six.

SHYMMM. Flash! The group disappears.

INT. MLF BASE, LAB - CONTINUOUS

SHYMMM. Flash! The group reappears in a laboratory.

STRYFE stands on a platform in the middle of the room.
Around him are various scientists in bio-hazard suits,
working at microscopes, with test tubes, etc.

                      STRYFE
          I've been expecting you,
Askani'son. You're too late. It is
          done!

Stryfe raises a vile, as if getting ready to throw it. Cable
opens fire, shooting Stryfe in the head. Stryfe staggers,
but his helmet protects him. He regains his balance.

                      STRYFE
          Ngagh! Fool! No matter...

As he says this:

Tztztz a portal opens, revealing Zero.

Six Pack all open fire. Stryfe jumps through the portal,
immediately followed by Zero. The portal closes.

                      CABLE
          Goddamnit!

Just then, a different siren begins to wail. All of the
scientists scurry out of the laboratory.

                      DEADPOOL
          This dj sucks. Let's leave.

                      KANE
Cable! We got to move, now!

Cable leaps over to a terminal and plugs in using his left
(techno-organic infected) arm. A rumble of explosions is
heard all around them. The building shakes and the lights
flicker.

                      DOMINO
          Cable! Come on!

Cable disconnects from the terminal. He is distant, unfazed
by the destruction happening around him.

                      HAMMER
Come on, man. Snap the fuck out of
          it. It's time to go!

                      CABLE
                (half-muttering to
                 himself)
          Time...

The team looks concerned, bracing for the inevitable; except
for Deadpool, who looks almost giddy.

                      DEADPOOL
          Oooh. Sparkly! That Stryfe must
have spared no expense on his
          explosives. I love a man with a
          taste for the finer things...

                      HAVOK
                (to Domino)
What are we supposed to do? Should
I blast us a way out?

As Havok is speaking, Cable calmly rejoins the group.

                      DEADPOOL
Ah, goddamnit. I missed all the
          fireworks. Shit! What about Bob?!

Kane punches Cable. Cable is barely fazed. He's clearly more
powerful, but his mind is completely elsewhere.

                      KANE
I get that you don't care about
Hammer's life or mine; and fuck the
          Degenerate...

                      DEADPOOL
Degenerate?! That's no way to talk
about Alex. He did good out there.
                (to Havok)
You did good. You did real good out
          there, kid.
                (back to Kane)
He's a good kid, eh. So what if
          he's an orphan--

Kane flashes Deadpool a look.

                      DEADPOOL
I'm starving. Anyone else in the
mood for tacos? Come on, kid.
          SHIELD's buying.

Deadpool leaves with Havok. The others watch as they get out
of earshot.

                      CABLE
          You were saying?

                      KANE
What the hell was that back there?

                      CABLE
We failed our primary objective and
Stryfe took care of the demo. I was
seeing to it that we didn't fail
          our secondary.

                      KANE
You know what I mean. You got
          shell-shocked out there and you
jeopardized us all. Why were you
          hesitating?

                      CABLE
          I wasn't; and I wasn't
          shell-shocked, either. I was
          processing the information and
analyzing how it changed things. It
would take too long to explain.

                      KANE
          I got time. Try me.

                      CABLE
          Yeah, but I don't. It doesn't
          matter, anyway.

                      KANE
          It doesn't matter?!

With that, Kane loses it. Domino and Hammer both step in and
restrain him.

                      CABLE
I don't have time for this. I have
to let Fury know that Stryfe got
away with the Legacy Virus. In all
likelihood, he is meeting with Mr.
Sinister, as we speak. The virus
will be unleashed; and there is
nothing we can do to stop this.

                      KANE
What do you mean? Legacy Virus? How
          do you know?

                      CABLE
          It always happens. It doesn't
          matter. SHIELD, Mr. Sinister,
          Stryfe, or Apocalypse, himself...
it doesn't matter who. It is always
          created and always released.
          Millions die, mutants and humans
          alike.

                      KANE
          How do you know?

                      CABLE
          Because I'm still here.

Cable walks out.

INT. SHIELD CARRIER, FURY'S OFFICE - LATER

Cable and Fury are talking.

                      CABLE
I uploaded everything I got off of
          their servers. That information
will speed up the discovery of a
          cure.

                      FURY
Beings how you're still here, I'm
          guessing that still doesn't change
          much.

                      CABLE
Not true. By starting now, you will
save over a million lives. It's not
my endgame; but it's not nothing.
When it's over, you should thank
Stark. His upgrades to your systems
are what allow you to find the
cure. You should also tap McCoy to
get started, ASAP. He might still
be able to save Illyana Rasputin.

                      FURY
          Rasputin? You mean Colossus's
          sister?

                      CABLE
That's the one. Her death causes
          some major ripples.

                      FURY
But not the sort that change you
          coming here, if stopped...

                      CABLE
          No...

                      FURY
          It's never that easy.

                      CABLE
Nor that simple. Keep an eye out
          for a man named 'Bishop.' He's a
good soldier. He'll be a big help,
          too.

Fury extends his hand to Cable. They shake hands.

                      FURY
I'd say, your service today takes
you off of SHIELD's 'Most Wanted.'
If you need my help on anything,
          you let me know.

                      CABLE
You wouldn't believe how many times
          you've said that to me.

                      FURY
          Well. Take care, Traveler.

INT. ST. ELSEWHERE, ROOM - DAY

SUPER: January 2, 1991 A.D.

At the end of a dark and empty corridor, there is a room
with the door open. It is dimly lit by medical machines.
SCOTT (Cyclops) sits in a chair, his head hangs in grief.
His thoughts can be heard.

                      CYCLOPS
                (VO)
I'm so lost right now, Jean. My
          whole world is turning upside-down.
I mean, for Christ's sake, look at
how they still treat us; even with
all of our sacrifices. Here you are
quarantined. What is it all worth?

Faintly, the thoughts of Jean are heard.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
My dear Scott. If only I were not
so weak I could reach out to you.
          Instead, I will listen.

The camera enters the room. JEAN GREY lies in a hospital
bed, attached to numerous machines. Scott sits there in
silence for a moment.

                      CYCLOPS
                (VO)
I will have to have faith that you
can at least hear me, My Love, and
know that I never meant to hurt
          you.

                                             CUT TO:

INT. OUR LADY OF INDIFFERENCE, ROOM - SAME

Madelyne Pryor (Jean's clone) is going into labor.

INT. OUR LADY OF INDIFFERENCE, HALL - SAME

In the hallway, GAMBIT, WOLVERINE, and BEAST are standing
guard. A group of doctors and nurses approach the room in a
hurry. As they rush by, Wolverine steps out and blocks one
of them.

                      WOLVERINE
Nu-uh. Not you, bub. You don't
          smell right.

As he says this, he stabs the doctor in his abdomen with one
arm, the other holding the doctor from moving. Gambit and
Beast also quickly descend on the doctor. Gambit holds a
charged card.

                      GAMBIT
          Look almost like Logan went
noodlin'. Always knew he was a
          redneck at heart.

                      WOLVERINE
          Hey, Cajun, quit your yappin'.

                      GAMBIT
Ah, come now, mon ami, I think you
did a good thing. I'm looking
forward to frying up some catfish.

                      BEAST
          Gentlemen, please. Now, Wolverine,
          though I applaud your dexterous
apprehension of whoever this is, I
          think we should...

Before Beast finishes speaking, the doctor shapeshifts into
Mr. Sinister.

                      WOLVERINE
          I knew it.

Mr. Sinister chops Wolverine in the throat. Wolverine
releases him and grabs his throat, coughing.

                      WOLVERINE
I hate to admit it, but that
goddamn Mouth is right about one
          thing--you're a grade A dick.

                      MR. SINISTER
You will hand the child over to me.

                      GAMBIT
          He pretty dumb too, no?

                      MR. SINISTER
You wouldn't risk the lives of the
people in this hospital. I know
          that. I don't think they're worth
being allowed to keep breathing and
breeding. You know that. Give me
the boy or I will kill everyone,
down to the infant born just twelve
          seconds ago.

Wolverine and Gambit stand poised for a fight. Beast is
reluctantly on guard, when suddenly:

MONTAGE - NATHAN'S BIRTH EXPERIENCE

Everyone's mind is overcome by H.R. Giger-esque impressions
of Nathan's experience of birth.

INT. OUR LADY OF INDIFFERENCE, HALL - SAME

Stunned, Mr. Sinister teleports out. Beast and Gambit share
overwhelmed looks, tears partially welling up in their eyes.
Wolverine just looks a bit dazed.

                      BEAST
Well, I think it's safe to say that
          Cyclops has a son.

                      GAMBIT
          Oui, il est un garçon.

                      WOLVERINE
What the hell are you talking
          about? Goddamn, my head hurts.

Just then, a real doctor steps out. He shares the same
overwhelmed look as Beast and Gambit.

                      DOCTOR
I have no idea what that was, but
your friend has just had a son.
Mother and baby are both healthy.
You can go in and see her, now.

                      BEAST
          Thank you, doctor.
                (To Wolverine)
          See, Logan?

                      WOLVERINE
Wait. How did you know? Am I
          missing something, here?

                      DOCTOR
Has there been any luck in finding
          the father?

                      BEAST
          We've located him. He's bedside
with another team member, who's in
          another hospital, gravely injured.

                      DOCTOR
Has there been any word from him?

                      BEAST
No, there hasn't; which is very
          strange.

                                             CUT TO:

INT. ST. ELSEWHERE, ROOM - SAME

                      JEAN
                (VO, heard faintly)
Oh. Goodness! Scott's new baby boy
          is something else!

Scott still sits with his head hanging.

                      CYCLOPS
                (VO)
I don't know how or where I fit in
anymore. The Professor left and put
Magneto, of all people, in charge
of the school. Storm beat me and
          showed that my judgement is
impaired. I'm no longer the leader
of the X-Men. I need a change; but
I don't get along with the New
Mutants or their leader. To be
          honest, I don't know that I even
have the energy to fight, right
          now. I'm exhausted... And I have a
          child on the way...

                      JEAN
                (VO)
My poor, Scott. You have a son! He
has been born. If you weren't so
          distracted, you would know...

                      CYCLOPS
                (VO cont.)
I should be happy. I should be
          happy that, for all the
          difficulties that will come when
you wake back up... I should be
          thrilled that you're alive. I
should be happy that Maddie loves
me, that we are bringing new life
into this world. And, I am. I
swear. You know me. But I'm just so
          lost, though. I feel nothing.

Just then a nurse enters the room.

                      NURSE
Mr. Summers, I have some good news
for you. You have a son. Mother and
baby are both healthy and resting
          over at St. Mercy.

Scott looks up and thanks the nurse. She walks out. Cyclops
hangs his head in his hands and shudders with suppressed
sobs.

EXT. SPACE

SUPER: 4015 A.D.

A warp in space appears and with a flash, Graymalkin
reappears.

The Earth looks dirty and smog covered.

INT. GRAYMALKIN

                      CABLE
          Professor, maintain orbit. I'm
          going home. Bodyslide by one,
          Askani Settlement.

SHYMMM. Flash!

                                             CUT TO:

EXT. ASKANI SETTLEMENT - DAY

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears.

Cable walks through a street. People mill about, going
between shops, etc.

A few people see and recognize Cable. As he walks, slowly a
crowd begins to form around him. He turns and acknowledges
the crowd, thanking them, but asks for time to himself.
Cable continues on, in solitude.

EXT. ASKANI SETTLEMENT, MEMORIAL GARDEN - LATER

Cable comes up to a small vacant plot with a garden, a
jarring contrast to the metal and concrete of the rest of
the settlement. The garden is enclosed by a small iron
fence.

On the fence is a SIGN reading: "In Loving Memory of Aliya."

Cable walks up to the gate and pauses, reflecting. Then--

                      CABLE
          Professor, bodyslide by one,
          Command Center.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable disappears.

EXT. ALASKAN CABIN - DAY

SUPER: November 6, 1991 A.D.

Scott swings an axe, splitting a log. He picks the pieces up
and tosses them on a growing pile. In the cabin, Jean holds
Nathan and watches from a window.

INT. ALASKAN CABIN - CONTINUOUS

Nathan turns his head as if he hears something. Then the
phone rings.

                      JEAN
Huh. I wonder if you have some
          precog ability, too. Wouldn't that
          be something, Kiddo?
                (Answering the phone)
          Hi, Hank. How are you?

INT. X MANSION - SAME

Beast is on the phone with Jean.

                      BEAST
          Hi, Jean. Have your powers
          returned?

INT. ALASKAN CABIN - SAME

Jean is on the phone with Beast. She's still holding Nathan,
who's pulling at the phone cord.

                      JEAN
No, Hank. It's called 'caller I.D.'

Both laugh.

INTERCUT - TELEPHONE CONVERSATION

                      BEAST
In all seriousness, have you had
          any improvement?

                      JEAN
Some. I'm not sure. If nothing
else, being here with Scott and the
baby has been good for my psyche.

                      BEAST
And how is the young Summers doing?

                      JEAN
          Growing everyday. His powers are
          getting almost exponentially
stronger. It's as if he's coming
into his powers as a stage in his
          early childhood development. I've
only seen two other instances of
          prepubescent expression of
          abilities. It's really been
something to behold. Though I am a
bit terrified that he'll be running
          while telekinetically lifting
objects, soon. He's a handful as
          is!

          He's especially quiet, though. He
          doesn't babble; almost never cries;
          hardly even giggles. Instead, he
projects his thoughts. I guess it's
          easier for him. Thankfully, my
powers are too weak to respond in
kind, or it would be very tempting.
Though I do wonder if he's capable
of reading my thoughts. Scott and I
          talk to him, constantly. Hopefully,
          that will encourage Nathan to
speak, when the time comes--he is
only ten months old, after all.

                      BEAST
Nathan sounds like a marvel. I'm
glad you all have each other. How
          is Scott?

                      JEAN
I'm not sure. He's still processing
          everything. Between losing the
          leadership of the X-Men, Madelyne
being my clone and an agent of Mr.
          Sinister, the battle with the
          Shi'ar, and becoming a father, he's
          got a lot to process.

Deadpool walks into the room, in the background. Jean fails
to notice him.

                      BEAST
You have your own fair share of
          trauma to process, too, Jean.
          Considering the veritable inferno
you all have survived, I would say
that Alaska is a fitting retreat.

Deadpool looks at the camera like he's going to interject,
but instead gives Nathan a pat on the head and sneaks out of
the room.

                      JEAN
          So, what's up, Hank?

                      BEAST
Are you reading something from all
          the way in Alaska?

                      JEAN
Yeah, it's your voice. How long
have we known each other, now? Come
          on, Hank. Is everyone okay?

                      BEAST
I'm not sure how to answer that
          question. As you know, the
Professor was off on a sabbatical.
          Unfortunately, he was kidnapped.

                      JEAN
What?! We have to go after him!

                      BEAST
          Please, let me finish. There's
more. Magneto and Storm took most
of the X-Men to go after him. We've
          been keeping in constant
          communication. They seem to be
          making progress.

                      JEAN
What can we do to help?

                      BEAST
          Well, the school is mostly
          unsupervised. Bobby, Piotr, and
Kitty are here, but we need more
          staff.

                      JEAN
          Okay, that's not a problem. We'll
          be on the next flight.

                      BEAST
          There's one last thing.

                      JEAN
          Okay. What is it?

                      BEAST
Well, in his own sense of logic and
wisdom, Mr. Eisenhardt has put Ms.
Emma Frost in charge of the school
          in his absence.

                      JEAN
Magneto did what?! Is this a joke?

                      BEAST
          Afraid not.

                      JEAN
          Boy, Hank.

INT. X MANSION - SAME

Beast is still on the phone with Jean.

                      BEAST
          I know. I wouldn't ask if I didn't
absolutely need you guys. Don't get
me wrong, I will give Ms. Frost due
credit for doing a fine job as head
          mistress; but there's something
about the whole situation that has
          me uncomfortable--like it's all a
          bit off.

INT. ALASKAN CABIN - SAME

Jean looks out the window at Scott and without hesitating,
responds:

                      JEAN
We'll be on the next flight. Don't
worry, Hank, we'll see you soon.

She hangs up the phone and grabs Nathan's coat and begins to
bundle him up to go outside.

EXT. ALASKAN CABIN - LATER

Jean walks out, carrying Nathan. Scott sees them coming. He
waves and smiles, then turns back to the logs. There are
only a few left. Scott shoots them with his optic blasts,
splitting the logs.

Jean reaches Scott. Oblivious, he reaches for his son. Jean
passes Nathan over. Scott bounces and kisses and spins with
Nathan, until he turns and sees Jean's expression.

They exchange looks.

                      CYCLOPS
          Time to go back?

Jean nods.

MONTAGE - TRAVEL TO NYC

Jean and Scott are busy packing the cabin and watching
Nathan. The three board a small skiplane. They fly somewhere
more populated. Then they catch a flight to New York City,
where they are greeted by PIOTR (Colossus). He is in his
HUMAN FORM and holding a SIGN reading, "Nathan, Jean, and
Scott."

INT. AIRPORT TERMINAL - DAY

Before hello's are even exchanged, Colossus simultaneously
hugs Jean and Scott, and takes their luggage, and manages to
end up with Nathan, as well. He chatters with the infant in
Russian, Nathan giggles and coos.

                      JEAN
I never knew you were so good with
          babies, Piotr.

                      COLOSSUS
'Tis true. Babies and dogs see me
for what I am, a giant marshmallow
          man.

Colossus thinks about what he said.

                      COLOSSUS
          If The Ghostbusters hadn't ruined
          the image.

They all laugh. Colossus leads them to the car.

MONTAGE - DRIVE TO THE X-MANSION

Piotr drives them all from the city out to the X-Mansion, in
Westchester. Jean and Piotr chat as Scott looks out the
window in deep thought. They arrive at the mansion and pull
up the long driveway.

INT. CAR - DAY

Jean looks up suddenly.

                      JEAN
          Scott.

                      CYCLOPS
          What's wrong, Jean?

                      JEAN
Nothing. Everyone is waiting to try
          and surprise us.

                      CYCLOPS
How do you know? Are your powers
          returning?

                      JEAN
Still, not yet; but his seem to be
          growing every day.

                      COLOSSUS
Oh, no fair. The little baby is a
          telepath?

INT. X MANSION - SAME

Everyone is huddled in various hiding places.

                      BEAST
          Okay, everyone. They just pulled
up. Keep very still and quiet.

Just then, EMMA FROST walks into the room.

                      EMMA
          They know you're hiding.

                      BEAST
They know? How? Have Jean's powers
          returned?

                      EMMA
          No. The brat is exceptionally
          gifted, though.

Just then, the door opens. Beast stands talking to Emma and
is caught off guard. Most of the others have stepped out of
their hiding place. A few jump out, but the exclamation of
"SURPRISE!" sounds more like a question.

                      BEAST
          Did you know?

                      CYCLOPS
          Yes. Nathan alerted Jean.

                      BEAST
          Remarkable.

The group all exchange hellos. Piotr helps carry Jean and
Scott's luggage to their room. They are shown the nursery
for Nathan.

INT. X MANSION, DINING HALL - THANKSGIVING MONTAGE

A large, long table is full of the remnants of a
Thanksgiving dinner. The table is being cleared to the
kitchen by Jean, Scott, Bobby, and Hank. The four talk and
reminisce about past adventures.

INT. X MANSION, LIVING ROOM - A LITTLE LATER

After the dining room and kitchen are clear, the four sit
and talk. The television is on in the background.

                      CYCLOPS
I think it's time to step out on
our own. We have the experience. I
spoke with Fury. He says he'll help
us lobby the right people and help
get us set up. I think this is a
          prime opportunity and we should
          take it.

                      ICEMAN
I'm not sure how I feel about
          wearing a government issued
          uniform.

                      BEAST
I'm sorry, Fearless Leader, but I'm
with Bobby. I'm not sure how I feel
          about being a soldier.

                      JEAN
          That's what we've always been,
          Hank.

                      BEAST
Well, Jean? What are your thoughts?
          Do you support it?

                      JEAN
I'm not without my misgivings, but
I think forming X-Factor is indeed
a prime opportunity. We can set the
          precedent for future federal-mutant
          initiatives. We can show our
          patriotism by showing our shared
dedication to the peace and safety
          of our neighbors and home.

                      CYCLOPS
Think about it, we could be the
ones sent in to handle situations
          instead of Sentinels.

                      BEAST
I'm not saying the idea is without
its merit. Heaven knows I could use
          a change of pace.
                (To Iceman)
          Bobby, what do you think?

                      ICEMAN
I'll have to hold my final decision
until I see the uniform and a
contract; but I'm at least on board
with working with you guys--so I
          guess, I'm in.

Beast stands in deep thought.

                      BEAST
I think we should also invite
Warren to be a part of the group.

                      CYCLOPS
I was thinking the same thing.

                      BEAST
He seems to have been going through
          a synchronized crisis of faith,
like the rest of us. I think doing
something as the five of us,
especially with the help of the
          federal government, instead of
their opposition, might be what we
all need. The X-Men will be fine
without us; and it's not like we
          can't team-up as needed.

Just then, a news report interrupts the conversation.

                      ANCHOR
We have breaking news. Sources at
the FAA have just confirmed that
the small plane which crashed near
          Madison, earlier today, belongs to
          Warren Worthington, the third. As
          we reported earlier, eyewitness
accounts suggest that the crash was
the result of a midair explosion.
          The identities of the passengers
are not yet known, neither are the
details of the plane's flight plan.
The Worthington family has not yet
made a statement; but a press
conference is scheduled for 7 a.m.
          tomorrow morning. Stay tuned to
Channel 5 for more on this
          developing story. We will continue
to report details as they become
known. Now, back to your regularly
          scheduled program...

The whole group is stunned. They are all standing close
around the television set; as if being closer to it would
change the details of the report.

No one notices Deadpool sitting on the couch behind them.
Deadpool is wearing an X-Men uniform.

                      DEADPOOL
So, I hear there's an opening in
the X-crew. Am I on the shortlist?

The whole group is poised. Their anger supersedes the
confusion of where Deadpool even came from.

                      DEADPOOL
Can I fly the Blackbird? What? Too
          soon?
                (Half to himself)
Hmmm. Is it ironic when the guy
with wings dies in a plane crash?

                      CYCLOPS
          Get. Out. Now.

                      DEADPOOL
Oooh. Did I strike a nerve? My bad,
everyone. I'll leave. No need for
Fearless Leader Sr. to get his
          yellow undies in a bunch.
                (Walking away.)
This was a lame party anyway.
          Nothing but the boring original
team; minus one, I suppose. But
it's not like comic book deaths
          last very long...

                                             DISSOLVE TO:

INT. ASKANI BASE, COMMAND CENTER - DAY

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears in a corridor. He walks down
the hall to a reception desk. He is immediately recognized
and led to a conference room.

Cable waits patiently while the others arrive.

INT. ASKANI BASE, CONFERENCE ROOM - LATER

The meeting is underway. Ranking military officers and
Askani administration, as well as the members of THE CLAN
CHOSEN are present. Clan Chosen consists of SORYA, BOAK (an
android), ELEVEN (another android, same type as Zero),
TETHERBLOOD (Cable's best friend), and HOPE (Cable's
sister-in-law). Cable stands at the front, talking.

                      CABLE
Many of you here, were present the
last time we took on the
Canaanites. I will simply say, the
same applies regarding them and the
Tinex this time, too. The only
          difference is that they're working
          with Apocalypse.

Now, we must take that as something
          to consider. It certainly can
increase the cost of victory, if
          not prevent it, altogether.

Someone in the group speaks up.

                      PEON
                (OC. Deadpool.)
What are you trying to say? We
          shouldn't try?

                      TETHERBLOOD
He's saying we have to be
realistic. If we succeed, many of
us will not return; but we cannot
          fail. The consequences of
          Apocalypse possessing the ability
to travel through time is total
          annihilation.

                      PEON
                (OC)
          So, what do we do?

                      CABLE
Storm and swarm. We'll set up
          artillery to account for additional
resistance; and go with what works.
Like last time, while the militia
          subdues and controls the
          Canaanites, Clan Chosen will
infiltrate the base and destroy the
Tinex. This time, we'll also take
the opportunity to capture and kill
Apocalypse, and put an end to this
          madness, once and for all.

                      PEON
                (OC)
Just like that? You make it sound
          so simple.

                      TETHERBLOOD
Yeah, just like that. That's what
we do. Who the flonq is in the
          wrong place?

Deadpool is sitting low in the back of the room, mostly
hidden. Cable notices him and is not amused.

                      CABLE
Wade. What have I said about
          teleporting to my time?

                      DEADPOOL
Not to do it unless absolutely
necessary. But, I figure since you
get to show up in my time and take
me wherever, without asking, I can
show up unannounced in your time.
          Plus, I am so bored. I haven't
gotten any speaking lines in the
last... I don't know how many
          pages.

Deadpool pulls out a worn, coffee mug stained, crayon
scribbled, copy of the script and flips through.

                      DEADPOOL
Oh. Hmm. I guess I lost my place. I
had a line on the last page. My
bad. It feels longer... Must be the
          production schedule. I thought
movies just happened. I didn't know
they were so much goddamn work. I
          mean, maximum effort and whatnot,
but you'll never catch me doing one
          of those written, acted, directed
          by's... Fuuuck that.

Everyone in the room stares at Deadpool, waiting for Cable
to give the order to rough him up.

                      CABLE
Please, Wade. This is just too
important for you to flonq it up.

                      DEADPOOL
Wait. Did you just say 'flonq?'
          HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Cable looks over to Eleven. Tztztz. A circular portal opens
behind Deadpool. Deadpool notices what's happening.

                      DEADPOOL
Ah, you gonna do me like that,
          Summers?

Cable knocks Deadpool into the portal with a psionic push.
The portal closes and everyone turns their attention back to
the meeting.

                      CABLE
Rachel will brief you on additional
          efforts to stop Apocalypse. My
          understanding is that Sorya has
          volunteered for that mission. I
commend her for her courage. That
said, we will need an additional
fighter to take her place on Clan
Chosen. I suggest Garrison Kane, a
soldier from the turn of the
          twenty-first century.

                      HOPE
          You really have an unhealthy
          obsession with the past and
          especially the twentieth century. I
          think it's dangerous.

                      CABLE
Considering it was the century I
was born in and the century of
          Charles Xavier, the importance of
          this century seems self-evident.

                      TETHERBLOOD
Still, though, what makes this Kane
          a worthy replacement for Sorya?

                      CABLE
Besides it being my decision to
          make?

Kane and I have fought beside each
other whether we hated each other
or not. We have history, which
isn't important, now. But what is
important is that in addition to
          his natural gifts of intelligence
in warfare and his ability to mimic
the powers of any mutant around
him, he was part of a program to
          create super-soldiers, the results
of which granted Kane two advanced
          cybernetic arms.

By bringing him here, we can give
          him our advanced prosthetics; heal
          his mental and physical scars;
teach him our techniques; and help
him to reach his full potential. In
return, we will have an invaluable
          asset in the field.

                      TETHERBLOOD
So, your history with him, will it
          be an issue?

                      CABLE
          No.

                      RACHEL
You're sure you can persuade him to
          travel through time with you?

                      CABLE
          Yes.

                      RACHEL
You're sure he'll be able to
          survive it?

                      CABLE
          Yes.

                      HOPE
And what if he can't be convinced?
What if he dies during the time
          jump?

                      CABLE
What is, is. I'll find a way, or
          I'll find a different way.

                      SORYA
You have faith in me; I have faith
          in you.

                      RACHEL
As do we all. You will do what you
          must. Go, my brother.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable disappears.

INT. ASKANI BASE, CONFERENCE ROOM - SAME

Rachel stands and moves to the front of the room.

                      RACHEL
          While Askani'son pursues his ends,
          we must also hedge against
          inevitabilities.

A projection of Baby Nathan appears.

                      RACHEL
We know that at some point in
          December of 1991, Apocalypse will
attempt to capture and kill Nathan,
          as an infant.

The projection shows scenes of Scott, Jean, Baby Nathan, and
others at the X-Mansion.

                      RACHEL
We know much about this time
          period, the X-Men, and Xavier.
          However, we have but fragments
          about Askani'son's life during this
time; and what we do have lies
          somewhere between myth and history.
          This time variation quite possibly
has to do with Apocalypse and the
Tinex. In all likelihood, he has it
and will travel back in time to
kidnap the baby and try to kill
him. We cannot allow that to
          happen.

The projector shows Baby Nathan in a crib in a nursery.

                      RACHEL
We have lucked out in being able to
cross reference the recscans of The
          Family and have pinpointed Nathan's
          location. Sorya has volunteered to
be sent back, to protect the baby
          Askani'son.

The group gives applause. SORYA stands and bows.

INT. CLAN CHOSEN QUARTERS - LATER

The group is spending time together, mentally preparing for
the challenges ahead, and saying goodbyes.

                      TETHERBLOOD
I'm not one for melodrama, but it
would seem that you may very well
          be our last hope.

                      SORYA
          It's the truth, none-the-less. And
I can't explain why, but this trip
feels different. This time it feels
like this is my purpose. This time,
traveling from the present to save
the future by changing the past
          feels like closing a loop.

Boak receives a message.

                      BOAK
A message just came in: Everything
is set up. We're ready when you
          are.

                      SORYA
          Thanks, Boak.

                      BOAK
          Sorya?

                      SORYA
          Yes, Boak?

                      BOAK
Are you sure that you want to do
this? There is a great deal of risk
          associated with this plan.

                      SORYA
I was born for this. It was my
plan, remember. Trust me to do it
          right.

                      BOAK
I have no doubt. It's just... This
is a one-way ticket. If it is
          successful, this entire time node
will be overturned. It will be
impossible to foretell how you come
          out, or even if.

                      SORYA
          What is, is.

                      BOAK
You will have to make all battle
predictions on the fly. You will be
improvising with no net from the
          very beginning.

                      SORYA
          I will figure it out.

                      HOPE
We all know that Nathan wouldn't
hesitate to sacrifice any one of
us. That's his view on life, but
you don't have to do this. We can
          take our chances against the
          Canaanites and Apocalypse,
          directly, here, now. Be responsible
          for changing things here, now.

                      SORYA
Look out the window, Hope. In
truth, I'm dead either path. I'd
rather have my sacrifice make a
          difference, than continue fighting
the same war, expecting any other
          outcome, ultimately, than death.

You have to find a way to forgive
him. You know he loved Aliya just
as much as she loved him.

Do you want to know how I
          understand Nathan Dayspring? I see
him as a man driven by immense
grief. Your judgment of him pales
in comparison to the severity of
          his own self-contempt.

                      HOPE
          His guilty conscience doesn't bring
          back my sister.

INT. ASKANI BASE, TIME MACHINE - LATER

Sorya stands on a platform.

                      SORYA
          Alright. I'm ready.

                      TETHERBLOOD
          Good luck.

SHOOOM. Flash! Sorya disappears.

INT. X MANSION, NURSERY - DAY

SUPER: December 4, 1991 A.D.

SHOOOM. Flash! Sorya appears. She stands over the sleeping
infant.

                      SORYA
Praise the light, I arrived in
time. Our recscans of this time are
          dangerously scattered. We knew only
that you are in danger from
          Apocalypse.

I wish I could do more than a mind
tag with you. So much that you need
to know that I wish I could tell
you. These are the last moments of
          your childhood. The end of
          innocence--

Just then, an explosion rips a hole in the ceiling and
knocks Sorya across the room. She quickly scrambles back to
her feet and grabs Baby Nathan from his crib and shields him
from further attack. She draws her weapon.

                      SORYA
Curse me for a novice! I should
have sent the young lord on his way
the moment I arrived! But no, I had
to be human. I just had to have a
moment for goodbye, without a care
          of the cost.

The smoke clears from the hole in the ceiling, revealing
WAR, one of Apocalypse's FOUR HORSEMEN.

INT. SHIELD CARRIER, BAY 6 - DAY

Domino and Hammer walk out. Kane stands by himself. He is
still angry from the argument with Cable.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears.

Kane is ready to fight Cable.

                      KANE
Holy shit! You got some gall, eh?

Kane swings for Cable's head. Cable catches his arm and
sweeps his feet with a psionic push and puts Kane on his
stomach. Cable pins Kane's arm behind his back.

                      CABLE
Listen to me. There isn't time for
this. I need you for an important
          mission.

                      KANE
          Get off of me!

Cable helps Kane up. Kane takes a moment to collect himself.
He clenches his jaw and puts on a stone face.

                      KANE
What is the mission? Does it have
to do with the Legacy Virus?

                      CABLE
I need you to come to the future
          with me. Apocalypse has an
          opportunity to achieve the ability
          to time-travel.

                      KANE
Really, you got some fucking gall,
I tell you that, eh. But, you must
need my help or I'd doubt you'd be
here at this moment. And just when
I thought this plague was going to
be the end. Shit. You want me to go
          to the future with you?

                      CABLE
          Yes.

                      KANE
          Alright. Brief me.

                      CABLE
In my time, Apocalypse has attained
          global dominion. His rule has
lasted for a thousand years. My
people, the Askani, have been at
war with him for five hundred
years. We have reached a point
where Apocalypse is weak, and we
have an opportunity to kill him. At
the same time, however, a group
          loyal to Apocalypse, called the
          Canaanites, have nearly rebuilt the
          Time Displacement Nexus, a time
          machine. We have destroyed it
before, but this time they have
          Apocalypse's help. We have to
strike and prevent the Tinex from
being completed. At the same time,
we hope to capture and kill
          Apocalypse, ending his tyranny.

                      KANE
Okay. So, how do I play into this?

                      CABLE
Well, my team, Clan Chosen, will be
short a member at the time of the
          battle. Another critical mission
          requires a member to volunteer.

                      KANE
Okay. So, again, how do I play into
this? I'm not seeing it. Why me?

                      CABLE
          Based on our experiences together,
I know you are the type of soldier
          I need for this mission.

                      KANE
Alright. So then what happens to
me? What about the present? What
          about the Legacy Virus?

                      CABLE
I do not want to sound cold, but
          the Legacy Virus is insignificant
          compared to Apocalypse possessing
the ability to travel through time.
          Consider it.

Kane pauses to think.

                      KANE
Alright. I can see that. So what
          about me?

                      CABLE
          How about replacement arms, two
          thousand years more advanced than
          what you have now?

                      KANE
Ha. I suppose arms for arms would
make us even, eh? I still don't get
what makes me so special, but you
always seem to be thinking twelve
moves ahead and things tend to work
          out. So, I'm in.

                      CABLE
          Glad to hear it. Professor,
          bodyslide by two, HQ.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable and Kane disappear.

INT. ASKANI BASE, COMMAND CENTER - DAY

SUPER: 4015 A.D.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable and Kane appear.

                      CABLE
          Come on, this way.

They walk down a hallway and come up to Clan Chosen.

                      TETHERBLOOD
Nathan, just in time. We're on our
          way to do some drills.
                (To Kane)
          You must be Kane.

                      CABLE
I can't stay, but I wanted to drop
Kane off with you. You all know
          what to do.

                      KANE
          Wait, you're just leaving?

                      CABLE
I have other places I have to be.
          I've left orders. Everyone knows
what needs to be done. It'll be
good for you all to work together.
I'll be back when it's time.

          Professor, bodyslide by one, HQ.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable disappears, leaving Kane with the rest
of Clan Chosen.

                      KANE
I know he's going to be there, when
          it's time for this battle--he
always manages to be at the right
place at the right time... But you
never quite get used to his rule in
          absentia style of leadership.

                      BOAK
No, you don't. Well, Mr. Garrison
of the twenty-first century, I am
Boak. This is Hope. This is
          Tetherblood. And the other android
          over there is Eleven. Our
          clanswoman, Sorya, funny enough,
has traveled back to your time,
which is why Cable brought you
here. Let's get started, shall we?

                      KANE
          That's why I'm here. Let's go.

KANE'S TRAINING MONTAGE - VARIOUS

Kane is led to a glass cylindrical medical chamber. Inside,
tiny robotic arms poke and prod him. Other arms detach his
prosthetic arms, then construct new replacements. Kane tests
out his new arms and works out. Kane floats in an isolation
tank. Kane sits with therapists and doctors. They show him
X-rays and medical scans and reports. Kane is cleared to
continue.

Clan Chosen start Kane with an obstacle course. He runs
through with ease. Next, they take him to a firing range.
Kane is fast and precise. Then, they work with him on
hand-to-hand combat. He shows himself to be a skilled
fighter.

INT. CLAN CHOSEN TRAINING FACILITY - LATER

Kane and Tetherblood stand holding a spear-like weapon.

                      TETHERBLOOD
This is a Psimiter. Though we are
more of your typical guns and
explosives sort of group, the rest
of the militia fights with these,
          primarily. So, it's important for
you to be familiar with them.

Tetherblood turns to a line of dummies standing across the
room. He poises to strike, then swings, giving a kiai.
Without making contact, a dummy falls.

                      KANE
          How did you do that?!

                      TETHERBLOOD
          The Psimiter amplifies the user's
          psionic strength. Our soldiers use
these weapons and a tactic called
          swarming, to subdue opponents. By
attacking in unison, we are able to
          overwhelm, even when outnumbered.
Ideally, this allows us to pursue
          diplomatic resolutions, avoiding
          unnecessary bloodshed.

But anyway, you try. It's easy.
Simply wield the Psimiter and swing
it as if you are going to strike
          the dummy. Visualize the strike,
and the Psimiter does the rest.

                      KANE
But, I don't have any psionic
abilities, eh. I don't know if
everyone in the future does, but I
          don't.

Tetherblood laughs.

                      TETHERBLOOD
          It doesn't matter. Not everyone
          here has the abilities you're
          thinking of, either. Besides,
          that's not how this works.

                      KANE
          Clarke's third law.

                      TETHERBLOOD
          Indeed.

                      KANE
You know of Arthur C. Clarke?

                      TETHERBLOOD
Just the same as you knowing
          Socrates or Aristotle.

                      KANE
No shit, eh. How about Marshall
          McLuhan?

                      TETHERBLOOD
The same. Anyway, swing and strike
          a dummy.

Kane stands and repeats Tetherblood's strike, only he swings
away. All of the dummies fall.

                      KANE
That's not a bad trick. What if
          you're being shot at?

                      TETHERBLOOD
Fair question. Go ahead and take a
          shot.

Tetherblood stands still. Kane takes aim, then pauses.

                      KANE
          From what range?

                      TETHERBLOOD
          Doesn't matter.

Kane steps forward and fires at Tetherblood. A force field
surrounds him, protecting him. The force field becomes
visible when struck.

                      KANE
          Your turn.

Tetherblood fires, shooting from the hip, without warning.
Kane swings the Psimiter, in split-second reaction. As he
swings, the force field around him becomes visible, as it is
struck. At the last second, Kane pulls the swing, causing
Tetherblood to only slightly sway.

                      TETHERBLOOD
Cable said you were a quick study.
Now, you have to keep in mind that
the force field has its limits; so,
          don't think these make us
          invincible. One last thing about
          the Psimiter, seems obvious enough,
but when in doubt, you can always
beat the flonq out of someone with
          it.

INT. ASKANI BASE, STAGE - LATER

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears on a stage in front of a
gathering of troops. Cable is greeted and hailed, upon his
arrival.

Almost as immediately as he arrived, he is whisked backstage
by the group of OFFICERS, who waiting for him on stage.

INT. BACKSTAGE - SAME

                      OFFICER 1
You sure do have a sense of timing,
          Askani'son. You're really cutting
          it close.

                      CABLE
          I know what I'm doing.

                      OFFICER 2
          Strike teams are awaiting your
          command, sir.

                      CABLE
Thank you. Time to address the
          troops.

INT. ASKANI BASE, STAGE - SAME

Cable and the officers return to the stage. The soldiers
erupt in a roar of cheers, again. Cable walks and stands at
a podium. He raises his hand to quiet the troops.

                      CABLE
Please. I stand before you men and
          women, humbled. Your bravery and
          willingness to sacrifice for a
better future gives me faith that
it is not only possible, but within
          our grasp, today.

The crowd erupts.

                      CABLE
Please. Please. Listen to what I
          have to say.

We stand today on the precipice of
          recognizing the fulfillment of a
          five hundred year struggle. For
          five hundred years, millions have
given their lives in the perpetual
          war against Apocalypse. We now
stand ready to seize victory, once
          and for all.

Again, the crowd erupts. Cable quiets them.

                      CABLE
Now, we know that Apocalypse has
          been weakened by the sustained
attack. It has been costly, but
because of our efforts, he hasn't
          been able to go into dormancy;
because of that, he is weak and
          vulnerable--so it has been worth
          the price. That sacrifice has
bought us this opportunity. We will
strike and we will kill Apocalypse
and we will save the future!

Crowd cheers.

                      CABLE
Now, we also know that Apocalypse
is working with the Canaanites to
          rebuild the Time Displacement
Nexus, or Tinex. We cannot allow
          that to happen.

          The Canaanites were dangerous
enough the first time we destroyed
          the Tinex, without Apocalypse.
          Worse still, he knows he's
vulnerable, so he knows we'll be
          staging an attack. Ugly doesn't
even begin to describe what this is
going to be; but it is necessary.

However much as I want Apocalypse
dead, though, we must not lose
sight of the bigger picture. Our
primary objective is to locate and
          destroy the Tinex. Apocalypse is
          secondary.

A hologram map of the Canaanite Complex appears.

                      CABLE
We'll mount a three pronged attack.
Group Alpha will post up here and
          here and provide artillery. Your
first targets will be these guard
          towers. After those targets are
          neutralized, you'll remain ready to
provide support, as needed. As you
set up and take aim, Group Bravo
will split in two and march down
these two streets, clearing out any
          resistance. Clan Chosen will take
          out the perimeter security systems.
Then Group Bravo and the Clan will
          rendezvous, here, and wait for
          Alpha's strike. Don't keep us
          waiting.

Murmurs of nervous laughter pass through the audience.

                      CABLE
From this point on, it only gets
          rougher. After the strike, Bravo
and the Clan will storm the
          complex. Once inside the walls,
we'll again split up. Bravo will
break into four groups and search
these areas. We are assuming that
all present are hostile and you
          have full permission to engage.

The soldiers give a hooah.

                      CABLE
At the same time, assume that they
could be using human shields. Don't
          be reckless.

Clan Chosen will again take out the
          security sensors inside by patching
          into their terminal here. Once
          complete, we will proceed directly
to this area, which we believe
contains the Tinex. If we're lucky,
Apocalypse is there and we get to
handle both objectives at once. If
          not, we'll use the facility's
security to do a scan to find him.
          Meanwhile, Bravo will proceed to
          control the building.

After the Tinex is destroyed, we
          want the Canaanites to surrender.
You will be notified once they
have. Once the Tinex is destroyed,
          Apocalypse is our priority; we
don't need to waste any unnecessary
          effort on a defeated army.

Alright. You all have your orders.
You know the parts you must play.
          Let's go load up.

The soldiers again give a hooah that melds into a roar of
cheers and praise and battle cries.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND - LATER

The Askani march up to the area surrounding the Canaanite
compound. They number a few hundred soldiers. They reach a
point and Group Alpha break off. Group Alpha set up their
artillery as Bravo and Clan Chosen continue.

As they near the compound, it's revealed that the compound
is massive, spanning several city blocks. Bravo and the
Chosen reach a point and split.

                      CABLE
Good luck, Colonel. We'll see you
          at the rendezvous.

Bravo splits, as planned, and continue on as two groups.
They encounter minimal resistance, which they easily
overcome.

Meanwhile, Clan Chosen make their way to a building
separated from the compound.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND, SECURITY POST - LATER

Clan Chosen stop and survey the building.

                      CABLE
          Alright. From this security post,
we can access the controls for the
          perimeter system and disarm it.

                      BOAK
There appears to be only two
          occupants. Armed, but relaxed and
          unaware.

                      CABLE
          Alright. Ready? Go!

Tetherblood kicks in the door. Hope tosses in a flashbang.
The team storm in and have the two guards on the floor
restrained before they can even react.

Boak and Eleven both walk over and connect to a terminal.
Eleven looks over to Boak.

                      BOAK
          Cameras are now offline. Also,
Eleven found this feed which might
          interest you.

A live feed from a conference room appears on a large
screen: Apocalypse is seated at a table, speaking with
members of the CANAANITES. Stryfe stands guard, at
Apocalypse's side.

                                             CUT TO:

INT. CANAANITE COMPOUND, CONFERENCE ROOM - SAME

Apocalypse stands to leave. The others stand as well.

                      APOCALYPSE
My patience is waning. How far are
you from completing the Tinex? I
          want results I can see.

                      CANAANITE 1
We are preparing for a test, as we
          speak.

                      APOCALYPSE
Then why are we here? I want to
watch this test. Take me there.

INT. CANAANITE COMPOUND, SECURITY POST - SAME

Cable and the others are watching the feed.

                      CABLE
Flonq. We're cutting it close. If
          the perimeter systems are offline,
we're done here. Time to head to
          the rendezvous point.

Clan Chosen take off running toward the rendezvous point.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND, STREET - LATER

Group Bravo moves down the street toward the rendezvous
point. They come up to a group of ten armed Canaanites. Four
soldiers step out to confront them. Using the Psimeter, they
disarm and knock down the Canaanites. The Canaanites are put
in restraints.

Group Bravo continue to the rendezvous.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND, PERIMETER - SAME

Group Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 are setting up artillery.

Meanwhile, another group of Canaanites make their way,
concealed, toward Alpha 2.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND, RENDEZVOUS POINT - SAME

Clan Chosen and Group Bravo arrive at the rendezvous point.

                      CABLE
                (Into headset)
          Bravo and Chosen at rendezvous.
          Fire at will.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND, PERIMETER - SAME

Group Alpha aim their artillery.

                      OFFICER 2
                (Responding)
          Roger.
                (To the soldiers)
          Let's show the Canaanites who
          they're flonqing with. Fire!

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND - SAME

Explosions erupt from the guard towers.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND, RENDEZVOUS POINT - SAME

Clan Chosen and Group Bravo watch as the guard towers are
struck.

                      CABLE
                (Into headset)
          Good job. Hits confirmed. We're
          going in.
                (To the others)
Victory is ours, today! Let's move
          out!

The soldiers storm into the compound.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND - CONTINUED

Group Bravo and Clan Chosen split. Bravo meets immediate
resistance. They are able to quickly overcome it and
continue on according to plan.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND, PERIMETER - SAME

The group of Canaanites surprise Alpha 2. They open fire,
killing or wounding Alpha 2.

INT. CANAANITE COMPOUND - CONTINUED

Clan Chosen make their way through the compound. They meet
minimal resistance, which they deal with easily.

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND - SAME

Group Bravo 1 is being overran.

                      OFFICER 1
                (Into headset)
          We're being overrun. Bring the
          hammer down on sector 7.

Just then, explosions rain down, taking out most of the
Canaanites. Bravo 1 regains the upper hand.

INT. CANAANITE COMPOUND - A LITTLE LATER

Deeper in the compound, Clan Chosen is surrounded.

                      CANAANITE 1
We have you, Askani'son. Your Clan
Chosen, along with the rest of your
          militia, are out-numbered,
          out-gunned, and out-matched.
Surrender and we might spare your
life long enough to admit defeat
          and swear allegiance to Apocalypse!

                      KANE
So, do we give up, now, or what?

                      CABLE
          Time to counter-attack and take
          numbers out. We're not retreating.
          It's victory or death!

Hope opens fire on the Canaanites.

                      HOPE
          Go flonq yourselves!

With that, Clan Chosen all open fire. The Canaanites return
fire. Boak emits a force field, shielding the Clan.

                      CANAANITE 2
                (To Canaanite 1)
          They have an energy shield!

                      CANAANITE 1
          Then overload it! Keep firing!

Clan Chosen continue to fire on the surrounding Canaanites.

                      TETHERBLOOD
                (To Cable)
          What's the play, here?

                      BOAK
Not to cause any undue stress, but
they're putting out a tad more
energy than my systems can handle.

Cable thinks for a moment.

                      CABLE
          Eleven, empulse sizzle. Static fry
          all surrounding systems.

                      HOPE
But that will take our weapons

                      CABLE
I'm aware of that, Hope. But it's
the only way, right now, to save
          our asses, disarm these flonqers,
          and take their security system
offline. Plus, we still have an ace
          up our sleeve.

                      BOAK
          That means me, doesn't it?

                      CABLE
          If we need it.

                      BOAK
You mean, 'when;' since we will...

                      CABLE
          Eleven! Empluse sizzle! Now!

Eleven emits a blast of static electricity, disabling the
Canaanite's weapons. The lights go out for a moment, before
backup systems turn on.

                      CANAANITE 1
          What the?!

Cable knocks back several Canaanites with a psionic blast.
Hope does the same, while Tetherblood and Kane knockout
others with their fists.

                      CABLE
          Let's move out!

EXT. CANAANITE COMPOUND - CONTINUED

Bravo 2 is being overrun.

                      OFFICER 3
Come in, Alpha 2. We need support
in sector 13. Repeat. We need
          immediate support. Come in, Alpha
          2!

There is no response, as things get worse.

INT. CANAANITE COMPOUND - SAME

Clan Chosen run down a hallway. They come to an open lobby,
where they find dozens of Canaanites armed and waiting for
them.

                      CABLE
                (To Boak)
I know it's rushed, but are you
          ready to discharge?

                      BOAK
Now, Dayspring, you know it will
          take longer that this--

                      CABLE
We don't have the time or the
firepower to hold them off. We have
to get through to the Tinex. If
          that means releasing your energy
          absorption before it's
          digested--then exactly what choice
          do we have?

                      BOAK
You mean what choice do I have?
Just promise it won't take you over
a year to reconfigure me, like it
          did last time.

                      HOPE
          Boak! No! Don't do it.

Boak steps out in front of the Clan and discharges an energy
bolt at the Canaanites, blasting them back. His circuits are
fried and he collapses into a pile of parts.

                      CABLE
I'm sorry but it was the only way.
With our weapons down and the
Canaanites left between us and the
Tinex, what else could we have
          done?

Hope punches Cable in the face.

                      HOPE
          Shut up, you flonq!

Cable's nose is bloodied, but he is mostly unfazed.

                      CABLE
Hope, he was, he is a biorganic
          construct, created to serve us.
He's not human. He's not even
          sentient.

                      HOPE
          That biorganic construct had more
humanity than you. He was more
human, more of a man, than you've
          ever been.

A stone look comes over Cable's face.

                      CABLE
We don't have time for this. Get
          the door open.
                (To rest of group)
Keep your eyes open, in case
          reinforcements arrive... Our
weapons should be back online by
now. Double check and be ready when
          the door opens... And someone
gather up Boak's pieces, so he can
          be reconfigured.

INT. CANAANITE COMPOUND - LATER

Hope opens the door. Apocalypse is standing with members of
the Canaanites. The Canaanites are aiming towards the door,
expecting Clan Chosen. A short fire fight erupts.

                      CABLE
Destroy the Tinex! He can't be
          allowed to have it!

Apocalypse opens a time portal. The fire fight ceases.

                      APOCALYPSE
          You're too late, Askani'son! You
will always be too late. I have the
          Tinex. We are now both beyond time;
but just the same, you will always
be too late. You are but a demigod
in my shadow. You are a mighty
effect, but I am the ultimate
          cause!

Apocalypse steps into the portal. It immediately closes and
disappears.

Cable's anger explodes. A blue glow emanates from him and in
an instant, all combatants, Askani and Canaanites, are
frozen in place; all objects, weapons and machines, are
disassembled, with their components hovering, like a 3-d
assembly diagram; the very compound itself is similarly
disassembled. Cable pushes the objects away. It is as if
Cable has cleared a plane of the clutter, leaving only
himself and the other combatants.

The Techno-organic infection on Cable's face spreads
slightly. He closes his eyes and inhales deeply. He begins
to float, flipping upside down slowly, and assuming the
lotus position. He floats for a moment. Then he opens his
eyes.

Just as suddenly as everything was disassembled, the
building, machines, and Askani weapons are reassembled. Boak
is also reassembled. The Canaanites are left frozen and
unarmed. Cable stands and surveys the scene.

                      CABLE
          Bodyslide by one. HQ.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable disappears.

EXT. X MANSION - DAY

In a remote corner of the expansive property, a time portal
opens and BISHOP jumps through.

In the distance, the mansion is being attacked.

Bishop takes off at a sprint toward the battle.

                      BISHOP
This is all wrong. This isn't how
          it's supposed to happen.

Nearing the battle, it is seen that the attackers are three
of APOCALYPSE'S FOUR HORSEMEN, FAMINE (Autumn Rolfson),
PESTILENCE (Plague), and WAR (Abraham Kieros). The grounds
are being defended by Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, and Iceman.
Meanwhile, Piotr, Kitty, and Emma are leading the students
to safety.

As Bishop approaches, War notices him. War raises his hands
over his head and claps, sending out a shock wave that
splits a tree, sending it flying at Bishop. Bishop dodges
the tree and opens fire with his rifle.

War evades the shots from Bishop and claps over his head
again. This time the energy blast hits Bishop directly, who
absorbs the blast.

                      BISHOP
          Shouldn't have done that.

Bishop lets out a giant blast from his fists and hits War
directly. War is knocked from his horse and begins to fall
through the air, but is quickly recovered by his horse
swooping in to catch him.

Once recovered, War turns his attention and claps his hands
again, blasting a hole in roof of the mansion.

                      CYCLOPS
          That's where Nathan's nursery is!
Quick, Bobby, get us up there!

Iceman creates a track to slide on. Cyclops holds on to his
shoulders. As they slide, Cyclops blasts at War.

Meanwhile, Beast climbs partially up the side of the mansion
and reaches for Jean's hand.

                      BEAST
Quick, Jean! Grab hold and I'll
          swing you up there.

Beast swings Jean, launching her through the air, up to the
nursery through the hole. He continues to scale the mansion.

INT. X MANSION, NURSERY - SAME

Sorya is putting Nathan back in his crib. Scott sees Sorya
near Nathan. He shoots a quick blast that knocks her away
from the crib.

EXT. X MANSION - SAME

Just then, a tiny spec appears on the sun. It is ARCHANGEL
coming in fast from above. His metal wings give a high pitch
hum from the rush of wind across them.

INT. X MANSION, NURSERY - SAME

All of a sudden, Archangel swoops in, landing feet away from
Baby Nathan's crib. He lifts the infant in his blue hands.
He pulls his hood back, so everyone can recognize him.

                      BEAST
          How is this so?

                      ICEMAN
I wept at your funeral; and you're
          alive?!

                      CYCLOPS
Why are you doing this, Warren?

                      ARCHANGEL
Because now is the dawn of the Age
          of Apocalypse. Tremble and know
          that I am become Death!

Archangel flaps his wings, releasing a barrage of
razor-sharp metal feathers. The feathers fly through the
air, some strike objects and explode. Cyclops shoots some.
The other members of X-Factor dive out of the way.

The ACTION PAUSES with several explosions occurring.
Deadpool is sitting in a rocking chair, watching.

                      DEADPOOL
Sweet. Was that a reference to the
Gita or the Trinity? I prefer to
think the writer is referring to
          Oppenheimer, who was referring to
the Gita. I think he just
          inceptioned me with that allusion.

Alright. So, I'm guessing a lot of
you who have read the comics are
          feeling like Bishop right about
now, huh? Especially since, by the
beginning of the End Game storyline
          Archangel was back with X-Factor
and using some good ol' fashioned
revenge for his motivation to fight
Apocalypse to save the baby Nathan,
which is the opposite of kidnapping
him and taking him to Apocalypse.

          X-Factor, for the uninitiated, is
the group Cyclops started when he
sold out to The Man, after getting
his ass kicked by Storm... Hello,
Ororo! Someone should do a movie
          with her backstory all Afropunked
out. I'd watch the hell out of
          that.

Huh. I guess you're kind of getting
an X-Factor origin movie, too. Just
thought of that. I wonder if that's
          on purpose... Moving on.

Anyway. Let's all do the timewarp
and accept some creative license on
the part of our dear writer--
                (coughing)
          Nerd.

So. For those that don't know,
          Warren Worthington III, A.K.A.
          'Angel,' A.K.A. 'Archangel,' was
one of the original members of the
X-Men, and also X-Factor. He was
born with bird-like wings, like an
angel, but lost them one way or
another, depending on who you ask.
          Apocalypse turns him into his
soldier-slave, as one of his Four
          Horsemen--specifically, the leader,
Death--but not the real Death, my
girl, he's just a member of a group
of mechanics working for a batshit
          crazy asshole. He wins the
          leadership role by kicking the
other Horsemen's asses, by the way.
So, in spite of his somewhat fruity
          super-power and silver-spoon
          upbringing, somewhere inside of
Warren beats the heart of a BAMF.

Funny extra tidbit, to let you all
know how fucked Apocalypse is, he
more or less lets Warren go,
          eventually. And after some time,
          Warren rejoins X-Factor and the
X-Men; but he's forever burdened by
guilt for the evil he did while
          serving Apocalypse. He's stuck in
this mental hell of having to go
above and beyond in doing heroic
good because of his sense of guilt,
          like some Greek punishment.
          Twisted, huh?

Just thought you'd like to know.

Deadpool gives a thumbs up, gets out of the rocking chair,
pats Nathan on the head, and leaves the room.

ACTION RESUMES:

Beast, dodging the feathers, leaps through the air to pounce
on Archangel. Archangel swipes with his wing. Beast
contorts, midair, narrowly avoiding being cut.

                      ARCHANGEL
          Apocalypse's will be done!

Archangel flies out of the opening, which War blows up and
causes to collapse. X-Factor take cover from the falling
debris.

I'm sorry, Scott. I tried my best.

It's okay, Hank. We'll find them
and get my son back. They left
          behind someone we can question.

Scott turns toward Sorya, threateningly. Just then, Bishop
kicks in the door. X-Factor all turn, poised, but then
relax.

                      BEAST
You usually have better timing than
          this, Bishop.

                      CYCLOPS
          Why are you here?

                      BISHOP
It's all gone wrong, Cyclops. I
don't know what Apocalypse does to
disrupt time, but I think it has to
do with your son. We have to stop
          him.

Sorya stands up.

                      SORYA
I believe I can shed some light on
          what's happening.

          I don't know; can you?

                      DEADPOOL
Ha! Grammar humor. You're a riot,
          Summers.

They begin walking down the street.

SEARCH FOR ESSEX IN LONDON MONTAGE - VARIOUS

Cable and Deadpool work on finding Essex. The look for him
at various Darwinist meetings and lectures. They ask around
town about him.

EXT. LONDON - LATER

Deadpool questions a Londoner on the street.

                      DEADPOOL
Hey. You know anything about a
          Nathaniel Essex?

                      RANDOM LONDONER
Ever since his wife and son passed,
both late last year, he's been
holdup in his lab. Nobody knows
what he's doing there, but there's
          definitely some stories, an' people
          who've gone missing.

                      DEADPOOL
                (Looking into the camera)
          Thank you random Londoner. How
convenient it is that you have that
          information.

                      CABLE
                (half to himself)
          This is wrong.

                      DEADPOOL
Hey man, getting exposition out of
the way can be a harder thing than
          you think.

                      CABLE
What? No. The timeline. It's not
          right.

                      DEADPOOL
Yeah well, you were the one who
          said that shit about quantum
variants in time fucking with the
present. Can't you just chalk this
          up to that?

                      CABLE
          It just doesn't feel right.

                      DEADPOOL
          Whatever. Let's go merc this
asshole, then you can drop me off
near Gabriella's Taco Truck on a
Thursday in 2016, so I can get the
          3 for 3 Thursday especial. I've had
all the boiled food I can stand. I
think I see why Sinister sucks so
hard. It's not all his fault. He
had to endure shitty shitty food,
on top of an utter lack of
          chimichangas. But! He's still a
dickhole. And I still want to be
the one to kill him. So, come on.
          Let's go.

Deadpool and Cable continue on their way.

EXT. OUTSIDE LONDON - LATER

Deadpool and Cable continue walking away from town, further
into the sparse countryside.

                      DEADPOOL
Why are we out here again?

                      CABLE
Same reason we blew up that
          research facility.

                      DEADPOOL
Swinging wildly at Time hoping to
          prevent the creation of the
          Techno-Organic Virus?

                      CABLE
          That's the plan.

                      DEADPOOL
How are we going to do that?

                      CABLE
Kill Mr. Sinister while he's still
Essex and prevent him from creating
          the virus.

                      DEADPOOL
Oh yeah. That's right. So who gets
          to kill him?

Cable just looks at Deadpool.

                      DEADPOOL
I believe your next line is, 'you
do, buddy, and I hope you're better
          at killing than remembering.'

The expression on Cable's face doesn't change. They continue
walking.

                      DEADPOOL
          I haven't said this to you, yet;
but, I'm so glad you invited me on
          this hunting expedition. It feels
like a real father-son sort of
outing to me. Does it feel like
that to you? Because it feels like
that to me. I won't say anything
else about it, if that weirds you
out; but it really feels like that
to me. You remember that farm in
          Nebraska?

Cable just looks at Deadpool.

                      CABLE
Would you shut up? Your voice is
          giving me a headache.

                      DEADPOOL
You know, Summers; there's a less
          dickish way to say that...

EXT. ESSEX'S SECRET LAB - LATER

Cable and Deadpool come up to a small decrepit farm house.

                      CABLE
Recscans are fuzzy at best, but
          this looks like the place.

They search the house and discover a secret door. They go
through the door.

INT. ESSEX'S SECRET LAB - LATER

They find ESSEX (Mr. Sinister) at his equipment, working.

                      DEADPOOL
          Surprise, dickhole!

Deadpool shoots Essex with his pistols.

                      DEADPOOL
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
          Bang!

Essex's body is riddled with holes. The holes slowly begin
to close, as Essex shapeshifts into Mr. Sinister.

                      DEADPOOL
Huh. So, that's what that feels
          like.

Mr. Sinister's eyes glow red and a glowing red aura grows
around him, focussing into orbs around his hands.

                      DEADPOOL
Clearly, I have made you mad.

Mr. Sinister hits Deadpool directly with an explosive energy
blast.

                      DEADPOOL
          Owee! That smarts.

Deadpool pulls out an RPG.

                      DEADPOOL
Don't pull them thangs out, unless
          you plan to bang, baby.

Deadpool fires the RPG. The rocket explodes near Mr.
Sinister, knocking him back and injuring him from the
concussion. Deadpool pulls out a smartphone and takes a
selfie.

                      DEADPOOL
          Yeah, new post for WorldStar,
          beyotch!
                (To himself)
          That gives me an idea.
                (To Cable)
Hey, Summers. Do me a favor, will
ya? Blast this bitch in the chest.
I'm about to DP him so hard.

Deadpool adjusts a dial to a setting written in crayon
reading, "Up In Your Chest." As he does this, Cable fires on
the weakened Mr. Sinister with his plasma rifle, leaving a
large hole in his chest. Deadpool fires his RPG again. This
time the projectile flies right into the same hole Cable
just made. The projectile explodes, vaporizing Mr. Sinister
into a cloud of bloody mist.

                      DEADPOOL
          That was awesome!

Cable just stands there. They both look at each other.

                      DEADPOOL
          Huh. That's weird. I figured you'd
vanish and I'd wake up like it was
all a dream, only to find some sort
of trinket, like your sweet plasma
          rifle, to leave the audience
          wondering...

                      CABLE
You wouldn't be able to lift my
          rifle, anyway.

                      DEADPOOL
You always say that; but you know
who's got two swords and lifted
          Thor's hammer? This guy. Anywho...
          What now?

                      CABLE
          I don't know.

                      DEADPOOL
Seemed almost too easy; don't you
          think?

Cable thinks for a moment while Deadpool scratches himself.

                      CABLE
          Bodyslide by one. HQ.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable is gone.

                      DEADPOOL
          Uh. Bye?

INT. ESSEX'S SECRET LAB - SAME

After Cable teleports out, Stryfe teleports in, with Mr.
Sinister, laughing.

                      DEADPOOL
Great. The old clone and teleport
          gag. How very original...
                (To Camera)
          Stryfe is a dick, too.

Suddenly, a ton of HENCHMEN appear for Deadpool to slice and
slash through in a humorous manner. As the camera pans back,
the fighters all become silhouettes. The fighting continues.

QUICK PAN OUT TO: Deadpool is doing shadow puppets with his
hands on a wall.

                      DEADPOOL
Oh. Ha ha. Yeah. The fight didn't
happen. There was some shit talk,
though. But, almost as quickly as
          they teleported in, they teleported
back out. That was a professional
          caliber dick move, right there.

So, maybe it would be helpful to
explain a bit about Stryfe. But,
he's not going to weigh in much in
          this movie, because...

Deadpool looks up and shouts.

                      DEADPOOL
          WELL!?
                (back to camera)
Anyway. I don't know. If you ask
me, I think Stryfe is only here to
set up a possibility of an
          X-Cutioner's Song trilogy. You
fanboys and fangirls can go tweet
about that. In fact, I'll say the
          same about Mr. Sinister. Actually,
and you can quote me on this, I
don't see this movie resolving its
          underlying conflict. In fact...
          err, again?
                (Looking off camera)
Really? How did this clunky dialog
          make it through doctoring? See?
This is why I say fuck a script.
Shit. Where was I? What's my
          motivation?
                (Back to camera)
Anywho. I think this whole movie is
a set up for an X-Cutioner's Song
trilogy. You heard it here, first.

Deadpool starts to walk away.

                      DEADPOOL
Man. I'm getting hungry. Why does
the food here suck so bad? Who told
          these people to boil everything?

                                             DISSOLVE TO:

INT. X MANSION, NURSERY - CONTINUED

Sorya stands alone, with Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Iceman, and
Bishop looking to her for an explanation.

                      CYCLOPS
So, shed some light. Who are you?
Do you work for Apocalypse? Do you
know where they have taken my son?

                      SORYA
Bishop is correct, this all has to
          do with your son.

                      BISHOP
How do you know my name?

                      SORYA
Same way that you know there has
          been a disruption in the timeline;
          only I'm from another thousand
          years in your future.

                      CYCLOPS
          Do you work for Apocalypse?

                      SORYA
The exact opposite. In my time,
          Apocalypse has become a ruthless
global dictator. I am the member of
a resistance group who fights him.
          Your son is our leader.

                      CYCLOPS
          My son?

                      SORYA
          Yes.

                      CYCLOPS
Where have they taken Nathan? How
          do we get him back?

                      SORYA
Apocalypse has waged war and ousted
the Inhuman Royal Family. He has
been using their base on the Moon
          as his own.

                      BEAST
Nathan has been taken to the Moon?

                      SORYA
          Yes.

                      CYCLOPS
So, how do we get him back?

                      SORYA
Our history shows that Black Bolt
          will reach out to you.

                      JEAN
He will be looking for our help,
while we need his; that's a
          fortunate coincident.

                      CYCLOPS
We can't just sit and wait around.
          How can we contact him?

                      JEAN
I can use Cerebro to reach out to
          him.

                      CYCLOPS
                (To Jean)
Are you sure, Jean? Your powers are
          still weak.

                      JEAN
What other choice do we have?

                      BEAST
          So, what's the plan, Fearless
          Leader?

INT. X MANSION, CEREBRO - A LITTLE LATER

Jean sits in a chair on a platform in the middle of a
cavernous, spherical room. She is wearing a helmet, which is
attached to the chair. The room is otherwise void of
objects.

Over an intercom, Beast talks to Jean.

                      BEAST
                (OC)
Just a moment for everything to
          check out... And we're ready.

INT. X MANSION, CEREBRO CONTROL ROOM - SAME

Beast sits at the controls. Cyclops sits at the monitors.

                      CYCLOPS
          Jean, no matter what, I love you;
and we will find Nathan. Please, be
          careful.

                      JEAN
                (OC. Over intercom)
Scott, I love you, too. I'll be
          fine.
                (To Beast)
Okay, Hank. I'm ready when you are.

                      BEAST
          Alright. All systems check. Jean,
          if you feel any discomfort...

                      JEAN
                (OC)
I'll be fine, Hank. Let's get the
          show on the road.

                      BEAST
I see Logan's rubbed off on
          someone.

Beast flips a switch and turns a dial.

INT. X MANSION, CEREBRO - SAME

The whole room becomes illuminated in a soft blue-purple
light. The light resembles a misty haze, seemingly with
mass. Jean shimmers, emitting a pink glow. Jean's thoughts
can be heard.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
Okay. Like riding a bike. I can do
this. I must do this! Now,
          concentrate. Focus.

For a while, the light simply bounces around, like ripples.
Jean begins to become frustrated. She slowly inhales and
suddenly, the light begins to form images.

As she works to find Black Bolt, what she sees with her
mind's eye is displayed in the glow of the room:

Passing from the room she's in, to the mansion around, the
land around, leaving the planet, and passing to the moon,
Jean concentrates on locating Black Bolt. She begins to
focus in on a location, a room, and finally, BLACK BOLT is
visible.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
          Greetings, Your Highness.

Black Bolt turns and faces Jean. As he responds, his mouth
remains motionless.

                      BLACK BOLT
                (VO)
Hello, Jean. I was just about to
          travel to you.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
          Are you in current danger?

                      BLACK BOLT
                (VO)
          No. Why?

                      JEAN
                (VO)
          We have been informed that
          Apocalypse attacked and occupied
          Attilan.

                      BLACK BOLT
                (VO)
That is why I was on my way to you.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
It might speed the process if you
could bring us to you. Apocalypse
has kidnapped Scott's son and is
          holding him.

                      BLACK BOLT
                (VO)
I see. Give me a moment, and I'll
come for you. We can discuss what
to do about our situations, in
          person.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
          Thank you, Your Highness.

With that, Black Bolt's image fades, and the light returns
to ripples.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
          We're coming for you, Nathan.

Suddenly, Nathan appears in the light.

                      JEAN
          Hang in there, kiddo!
                (To Scott)
Scott! We have to hurry! He's in
          grave danger!

The image of Nathan is replaced by Apocalypse laughing. Jean
screams. Her body flashes, before going dark as she goes
limp.

INT. X MANSION, CEREBRO CONTROL ROOM - SAME

Beast is at the controls, quickly turning the machine off.
Cyclops leaps from his chair, to the door.

                      CYCLOPS
Jean! Hank, turn it off! Jean, I'm
          coming!

INT. X MANSION, CEREBRO - SAME

Cyclops enters the room and runs to the platform, as Jean is
regaining consciousness. Jean sits up and takes the helmet
off, then sits for a moment. Cyclops goes to speak.

                      JEAN
I'm fine, Scott. Please, give me
some space. I should have been on
guard. I know who we're dealing
with. We have to hurry, Scott. I'm
          afraid something terrible is about
          to happen.

                      CYCLOPS
We won't let it, Jean. We'll put a
stop to Apocalypse, once and for
          all.

INT. X MANSION - A LITTLE LATER

Cyclops, Jean, Iceman, Beast, Sorya, and Bishop stand
waiting. Suddenly, there is a flash and Black Bolt appears,
along with LOCKJAW. Lockjaw resembles a giant bulldog.

Without a word, the whole group is teleported away.

INT. GRAYMALKIN

SUPER: 1859 A.D.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears.

                      CABLE
We were too late. That had to have
been a clone. It was too easy.

Cable paces for a moment.

                      CABLE
          Professor, take me to 1858.

                      PROFESSOR
Might I suggest six to eight hours
          of rest, first?

                      CABLE
I'll rest when the mission is
          complete.

                      PROFESSOR
          Very well. Preparing for temporal
          displacement.

INT. ESSEX'S SECRET LAB - NIGHT

SUPER: 1858 A.D.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears.

Mr. Sinister stands at equipment thousands of years more
advanced than the 19th century. He looks up in
half-acknowledgement of Cable's arrival. Cable holds his
guns aimed at Mr. Sinister.

                      MR. SINISTER
I applaud your effort, Nathan. You
have proven your fitness time and
          again. You have surpassed my
wildest imaginings of how you would
          turn out.

                      CABLE
          Get to your point.

                      MR. SINISTER
          You don't understand. You can't
win. Apocalypse who was once 'En
Sabah Nur,' is one of the original
homo sapien superior. He is an
          immortal, by birth.

                      CABLE
          Again. Your point.

                      MR. SINISTER
In some history, he came to have
the ability to travel through time.
Because of that, our fates are all
as intertwined as the moon and the
tides. As the vibrating strings of
          reality.

                      CABLE
          Again. Point. Get to it.

                      MR. SINISTER
          Your traveling through time won't
          change anything. History will
adjust so that you and I will
          always meet here, however the
          circumstances.

                      CABLE
          You got a better plan?

Mr. Sinister holds up an explosive device.

                      MR. SINISTER
We infect him with this virus,
which I've created just for him.

                      CABLE
          The Techno-Organic virus?

                      MR. SINISTER
          I hadn't come up with a name, yet;
          but that's an apt one.

                      CABLE
          My understanding was that you
created it in his service to thin
the world's population, not for him
          as a target.

                      MR. SINISTER
You fool. He holds me under his
thumb and I chafe. I will kill him
and prove, once and for all, that I
am the fittest. The only way to
          kill Apocalypse is by destroying
          his organic body entirely. This
virus will convert all of his
          organic cells into techno-organic
material. If we do that, he ceases
          to be.

                      CABLE
          How do you know?

                      MR. SINISTER
I have done the research. I know
          so.

                      CABLE
          Well Theseus, I think you're
          fighting above your weight. Not
sure I buy it. Seems like I have
three options: I can kill you and
destroy the virus before it ever
has a chance to spread; I can kill
you and infect Apocalypse; or we
can work together. To be honest,
number three doesn't seem likely to
          me.

                      MR. SINISTER
If I might interrupt you. The virus
is already out in the wild. I
          infected three random people in
          London. You understand the effects,
          correct?

                      CABLE
          You could say that.

                      MR. SINISTER
Good. I don't need to explain to
you that you're on the clock. Now,
if I might sweeten the pot for you,
          I have a vaccine which I will
dispense, you have my word, once
          Apocalypse is dead.

                      CABLE
Alright. How do you want to play
          this out?

                      MR. SINISTER
I'll arrange a meeting to deliver
the virus and he'll get you
instead. And you'll see to it that
          he gets it.

Mr. Sinister gives a maniacal villain's laugh.

                      CABLE
          Alright. Set it up.

INT. ESSEX'S SECRET LAB - LATER

Apocalypse teleports in. He is alone.

                      APOCALYPSE
          Show yourself, Sinister. I want
what's coming to me. Give me the
means to purify this world and I
will repay your loyalty with due
rewards of power and prestige. You
will be invited in, as a member of
          my perfect creation!

Apocalypse stands in silence for a moment.

                      APOCALYPSE
          What's this? Who dares defy
          Apocalypse? Show yourself!

Cable steps out of the shadows. There is a tense standoff
for a moment. Then Cable hurls the grenade at Apocalypse.

                      CABLE
          The name's 'Cable.' Remember it,
          Apocalypse.

The grenade explodes, knocking Apocalypse back with the
concussion. He is dazed. As he regains his footing, the
Techno-Organic infection spreads, until his whole body is
consumed. Apocalypse falls, succumbing to the infection.

INT. ESSEX'S SECRET LAB - CONTINUED

Cable watches as Apocalypse rises, weakly.

                      APOCALYPSE
I remember you, Traveler. You were
the one who started the chain of
          causality which insures my
          dominion...

As he speaks, Apocalypse becomes stronger. The evidence of
the infection fades. He grows, to double in size, and begins
to laugh.

                      APOCALYPSE
          Your hubris is your defining
          constant, Nathan Dayspring. You
have struck a severe wound, no
doubt--one which I will have to
rest and recover from; but the
gears of my machinations are in
motion, and you are powerless to
stop them! When I awaken, once
more, it will be to sit on my
          rightful throne!

                      CABLE
I'll be sure to keep my schedule
          clear for you coronation.

As Cable speaks, he opens fire. Apocalypse forms a shield
with his arm.

                      APOCALYPSE
          Enough!

Apocalypse explodes in a brilliant ball of energy, knocking
Cable back and leaving him unconscious.

Apocalypse is weakened by the fight. He has returned to his
regular size and is frail. His body resembles taffy,
flexible and unstable, with random tentacles stretching out,
from the act of exploding.

He looks at Cable.

                      APOCALYPSE
We will meet again, for sure; and
next time, I will not spare your
          life.

Apocalypse teleports out.

INT. ESSEX'S SECRET LAB - CONTINUED

The entire lab is a scene of destruction and utter
devastation. Deadpool walks into frame.

                      DEADPOOL
Holy shit! Look at this mess.
                (Calling out to Cable)
Yo! Summers! You alright, man? I
mean, really, look at this place!

He walks toward Cable's unconscious body, when suddenly:

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable disappears.

Deadpool looks more annoyed than surprised.

                      DEADPOOL
Jesus, you go out of your way to
help a guy, and what does it get
          you?

Deadpool looks over to the camera.

                      DEADPOOL
                (To Camera)
Hi, guys. So. You all might be
          wondering, 'Isn't Apocalypse
supposed to be immortal? What's up
with him having to go into dormancy
to heal?' I'm glad you asked; and
I'm glad Variant and NerdSync did
videos on this. I'll refer you to
those, but let's just say, me and
          Wolvie got way better healing
stats. Now, he is immortal, since
the odeur d' Apocalypse can linger
like a bad fart even if his body is
destroyed; but he still needs a
          host body--like that Denzel movie
with John Goodman. For the most
part he's kept the body of En Sabah
          Nur, his original body--though he
did intend Stryfe to be a host and
took Cyclops's body once. You know
          how comics get all cray-cray.
Anyway, he keeps his body intact
          using his super-power to manipulate
matter with his mind and some super
          advanced Celestial technology. So,
there you go. Feel free to like,
          subscribe, and share--I'm assuming
this will be an early shot teaser
bit we give you on Youtube.

Deadpool points in the manner of a Youtube video for a few
seconds, before he gives a thumbs up.

                      DEADPOOL
                (Looking off camera)
We get that? We good? I don't
really care. Make it work in post.
I'm not doing a second take.

Deadpool walks away from the camera.

INT. MOON BASE, OUTER EDGE OF BLUE AREA - DAY

Flash! Cyclops, Jean, Iceman, Beast, Sorya, and Bishop
appear, along with Black Bolt and Lockjaw. They are greeted
by other INHUMANS. They are in what appears to be an
advanced military complex.

Black Bolt uses sign to communicate with CRYSTAL. She
translates for the others.

                      CRYSTAL
I believe we are all caught up on
          each other's situations. In times
like these, it is fortunate to be
in a community of friends; and
          together we will overcome these
          challenges.

                      CYCLOPS
          Agreed. Together, we will liberate
your people and rescue my son.
          We've all had enough experience
          with Apocalypse to have learned
          some valuable lessons. We can
defeat him, we just need a good
          plan of attack.

                      CRYSTAL
                (Translating for Black
                 Bolt)
          Our forces and supplies are
limited, but that changes when we
          free our people.

                      CYCLOPS
Alright. You know your home better
than anyone. How do we find the
          other Inhumans and free them?
          What's our plan?

EXT. BLUE AREA OF THE MOON - LATER

X-Factor, Sorya, Bishop, and the Inhumans are making their
way toward the Royal City. Meanwhile:

INT. THRONE ROOM - SAME

The massive space is covered in Techo-organic growth.
Tentacles stretch out and across the space like giant metal
cobwebs. The techno-organic growth covers everything.
Machines are made entirely of TO material. Apocalypse's
henchmen are also infected, to varying degrees.

Apocalypse's scientists are holding Baby Nathan. He is
attached to various machines via wires. He squirms, but is
not crying. He has a look of consternation on his face.

                      SCIENTIST
The infant is resisting us. We
can't get a single accurate reading
          off of this child.

                      APOCALYPSE
This is a revelation to you
scientists? I am anathema to every
fiber of both his being and
character. He may not yet possess
the words to label such feelings,
but he knows I am his enemy. His
          obliteration guaranties my ultimate
          preeminence. As does his survival,
          quite possibly, means my ultimate
undoing. Which is why, though I
would much prefer suborning him to
my cause, I deem it best to put an
end to him while he is but a brat.

Just then, a henchman enters, interrupting.

                      HENCHMAN
          Master, a massive force has
          gathered outside the fortress, and
          looks ready to attack!

                      APOCALYPSE
          Is that so?
                (To Scientists)
Keep working. I want DNA samples
and anything else you can get from
          the boy.

EXT. OUTSIDE INHUMAN FORTRESS - LATER

X-Factor, Sorya, Bishop, and the Inhumans use hologram
projections to appear as though they are joined by a large
army.

                      BEAST
I hope this bluff works long enough
to get Scott, Bishop, and Black
          Bolt inside.

Apocalypse's laughter booms across the battlefield.

                      APOCALYPSE
You think you can fool me with
          smoke and mirror parlor tricks?

                      BEAST
          Guess not.

Suddenly, an entire army of Apocalypses appear, ready to
defeat the much smaller force. One of the duplicates opens
fire, hitting the hologram projector, destroying the
holograms, revealing just how outnumbered they are.

                      APOCALYPSE
Look on me, ye mortals, and
          despair!

                      ICEMAN
Wait. Holograms can't shoot! How is
          that even possible?

                      APOCALYPSE
Have you not realized, poor deluded
          simpletons? All things are possible
          to the Lord of Creation!

Just then. SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears behind Apocalypse,
gun in hand, pointed at the back of his head. He shoots.
Apocalypse falls and the rest of his doubles dissipate.

                      CABLE
                (Shouting to the others)
Go! Now! While you have the chance!

They all make a quick break to the fortress walls. Crystal
leads them to a secret passage.

INT. INHUMAN FORTRESS - CONTINUED

The group runs through the hallways, eventually coming up on
a group of Apocalypse's GOONS. They fight their way through
and liberate the captive Inhumans.

With their numbers bolstered, they continue on to the Throne
Room.

INT. THRONE ROOM - LATER

Apocalypse's Four Horsemen stand ready, waiting for the
attack. Apocalypse sits on the throne. Tubes stick out of
his arm and connect him to the metallic pod holding Nathan.

Cyclops blasts the doors open and is the first one to charge
through.

                      CYCLOPS
We're here to put an end to your
          terror, Apocalypse! Now, give me
          back my son!

                      APOCALYPSE
          Your bravado is most admirable,
          Cyclops. A truly fitting epitaph
for both you and your compeers.
          Unfortunately, your fate--indeed,
          that of the entire world--was
sealed the moment you breached my
          citadel.

And the instrument of that ultimate
obliteration is none other than the
          innocent you've come to rescue:
          your son!

EXT. OUTSIDE INHUMAN FORTRESS - SAME

Cable stands waiting outside of compound. He realizes that
they were still too late.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable disappears.

INT. THRONE ROOM - CONTINUED

There is a tense stand off.

Black Bolt looks at Jean, then utters a whisper, as Jean
covers the rest of the joint forces in a psionic shield.
Black Bolt levels all present Goons and severely stuns the
Horsemen and Apocalypse.

More Goons appear, as the Horsemen and Apocalypse regain
their footing. A fight ensues.

Beast sees an opportunity to try and rescue Nathan.

                      BEAST
          Jean, let's go!

They make their way through the chaos to the pod.

                      BEAST
This is an odd material. It's
metallic, but like living tissue. I
don't know how we're going to open
          this.

Beast is about to touch the pod. Sorya notices and runs to
stop him.

                      SORYA
          Stop! Don't touch it!

Sorya dives in between Beast and the pod. She touches the
pod, which discharges a massive blinding electric bolt.

Smoke clears, revealing Sorya laying on the ground, mortally
wounded. Beast goes to Sorya. Jean tries to concentrate on
contacting Nathan.

                      JEAN
          He's okay, Hank. Thank God.

                      BEAST
I wish I could say the same about
          Sorya.

                      SORYA
                (Weakly)
I jeopardized The Family. This was
          always my sacrifice to make.

Sorya exhales. Beast closes her eyes.

                      BEAST
Thank you, stranger. I'm sure we
          will never fully comprehend the
          depth of your sacrifice.

Just then, Beast sees a Goon being thrown and smash through
a section of TO growth, made brittle by Iceman's ice.

                      BEAST
          I have an idea!
                (Shouting to Iceman)
Bobby! Come over here! We need your
          help!

Iceman makes his way to Beast and Jean at the pod.

                      ICEMAN
          Jesus! What happened to Sorya?

                      BEAST
She was electrocuted by the pod
          holding Nathan.

                      ICEMAN
          Was he?

                      JEAN
          No. Thankfully, he's safe, all
          things considered.

                      ICEMAN
          Okay. What's the plan?

                      BEAST
Your ice appears to weaken the
growth. I think we should be able
to freeze the pod and smash it.

                      ICEMAN
          Simple enough. Here goes.

Iceman freezes the pod, making it brittle. Beast smashes the
pod, freeing Nathan. The baby gives a cry, but is quickly
quieted by Jean.

Suddenly, Jean gives out a cry in agony as Nathan begins to
show signs of the Techno-Organic infection (starting around
his left eye and on his left arm and leg).

                      JEAN
          Look, Hank! He's been infected!

                      BEAST
Oh my. We must get this poor child
to safety, post haste. We have to
          find a medical facility.

                      JEAN
If I could only link with him, we
          could have a better understanding
          of what he's going through.

Just then, Jean goes into a trance.

EXT. NATHAN'S IMAGINATION/ASTRAL PLANE

Jean is dressed as a warrior, armed with swords. The
surroundings are surreal, but bright and innocent. As Jean
regains her bearings, her thoughts are heard.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
          Neat little trick, kiddo, yanking
me out of my head and into yours.
So much raw power but untaught and
unfocused. I'm sure it will be
          enough to counteract the cancer
          destroying your cells.

Is that why you brought me here? To
help you? My knowledge and your
          strength, together can save your--

Just then, everything is absorbed in black, like ink wicking
out from some endless well. Samurai-type armor resembling a
mix of Stryfe and Apocalypse suddenly surrounds Nathan, like
a cage. The armor lashes out at Jean.

The Entity speaks with Apocalypse's voice.

                      APOCALYPSE
                (VO)
          Witness this child's vision of
          reality... In some ways wonderfully
          fanciful... In others, painfully
literal. He does not see the threat
to himself as a virus. He
personifies it in the form and
visage of the one responsible for
          his destruction. As without, so
within. All is lost. You are
          conquered. There will be no
          salvation!

He swings again, striking Jean, knocking her back.

                      APOCALYPSE
                (VO)
Just as your friends are falling to
Apocalypse in the real world, so
shall you; to an oblivion no less
          agonizing, no less ultimately
          final...

Jean squares off to him.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
          You're very sure of yourself.

                      APOCALYPSE
                (VO)
          Indulge me, I'm winning. You're a
          formidable foe, Jean Grey. Given
          time, I suspect, even potentially
my own match and more. But time for
          you is naught but history!

The Entity grows in size. As Jean feigns terror and
distracts the Entity, she uses Nathan's powers to bring in
Cyclops to the Astral Plane.

                      JEAN
                (VO)
Come on, kiddo. Focus. Bring Daddy.

Cyclops appears in shining armor, the same size as the
Entity. For a moment, he assesses the situation. He is
wielding a sword, which he uses to cut the Entity's head
off. Disrupting the vision...

INT. THRONE ROOM - CONTINUED

Back in the real world, Scott and Jean fall, where they
stand, momentarily dazed. As does Apocalypse.

Scott and Jean regain their footing and look at each other.

                      CYCLOPS
          Jean.

                      JEAN
          I know, Scott.

Anger boils over inside of Cyclops. As Apocalypse regains
his footing, Cyclops removes his goggles and unleashes the
full fury of his optic blast. Apocalypse is sent flying
back, severely wounded.

Cyclops runs to take his son in his arms. Apocalypse and his
Horsemen teleport away.

                      CYCLOPS
What am I supposed to do, Jean?

The infection is slowly spreading across Nathan's body.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT - DAY

SUPER: 1484 A.D.

A group on camel is seen riding through the desert. They are
all different nationalities. A few are obviously mutants.
All are armed and look ready for a fight. The Dark Riders
led by Apocalypse (before being infected). The group numbers
about fifty.

They go pass.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT - LATER

A figure is seen following the tracks of the Dark Riders. The
figure approaches and is revealed to be Cable. His hair is
high and tight, and he is clean shaven. He stops to look
around, then continues.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT, OASIS - LATER

The Dark Riders are stopped at an oasis. Their camels drink
from the pools, as the Riders fill water bags. Apocalypse
and one of the Riders stand off from the others. They scan
the horizon. Suddenly, the oasis is bombarded by rockets.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT, RIDGE - DAY

From a ridge, Cable looks down on the Riders. He takes off
at a sprint and jumps off the edge. While in the air, he
fires off another barrage of rockets. He glides through the
air quickly, but controlled. He covers half of the distance
from the ridge to the oasis. As soon as he lands, he's back
to sprinting.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT, OASIS - SAME

The Riders scramble to their weapons as rockets continue to
explode. Though the scene is chaotic, the Riders move with
the purpose of elite warriors. Some Riders are wounded or
killed, but none show fear. Most are completely unfazed and
form on Apocalypse, awaiting his orders.

                      RIDER
          What are your orders, Apocalypse?

                      APOCALYPSE
I want him alive. I have questions
for this man before I take his
          head.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT, NEAR OASIS - LATER

Cable and the Riders are engaged in battle. Cable is killing
off Riders with brutal efficiency. His technology far
surpasses theirs. He staggers his shots and uses telekinesis
to change guns and reload, maintaining a constant spray of
fire. Suddenly, inexplicably, all of his guns jam.

                      CABLE
          What the?

A giant charges at him, Cable dives out of the way; when a
shapeshifter swings his arm in the form of a club and lands
a blow to the back of Cable's head, dropping him to the
ground hard.

Before Cable can get to his feet, he is surrounded by a
dozen or so Riders. There is a standoff for a moment, then
two of the Riders reach to restrain Cable. He handles them
easily. Two more follow and Cable continues to fight. Then
two more, and two more, and two more, until he is out
numbered, severely beaten, and finally incapacitated and
restrained.

Apocalypse approaches the group. As he nears, the Riders
part for him, clearing him a path to Cable.

                      APOCALYPSE
My oracle said you have been
following us for some time, now.

                      CABLE
It's been much, much longer than
          that, En Sabah Nur.

                      APOCALYPSE
No one has called me that in over a
          millennium. Who are you, Traveler?

                      CABLE
          The name's 'Cable.' Remember me?
          I've come to kill you.

                      APOCALYPSE
Ah. I recognize you, now. And I
have survived you, before. And in
          the time since I've survived
          assassins and outlasted rulers from
kingdoms all over this planet. I am
the fittest. I will survive long
after you have returned to dust,
mortal. For your hubris, I sentence
          you to death!

Apocalypse swings his sword. As he does, Cable lifts his
left arm to deflect the blade and uses telekinesis to grab
his gun. Apocalypse's blade severs Cable's arm, as Cable
blasts Apocalypse with his rifle at pointblank range on full
power. Apocalypse is vaporized and rains down into a pool of
blood.

                      CABLE
          Survive that.

Cable knocks back the remaining Dark Riders with a psionic
blast. He gets up and grabs his arm from a silvery pool of
his blood. He holds it close to the remaining stump and
tentacles of techno-organic material reach out from both
halves, interlacing, reattaching the arm.

                      CABLE
          Professor, bodyslide by one. HQ.

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable disappears.

EXT. ARABIAN DESERT, NEAR OASIS - SAME

Dead Riders are strewn about. The camera pans and stops on
two pools of blood, the puddle of what remains of Apocalypse
and the small silvery pool of Cable's blood. The pool of
Apocalypse's blood spreads and flows over Cable's blood,
mixing. A hand reaches down with a small clay pot and scoops
up some of Apocalypse's blood.

It is one of the Dark Riders. He takes the jar, wraps it in
cloth, puts it in a pack, jumps on a camel, and takes off at
high speed.

RIDER TRAVEL MONTAGE - VARIOUS

The Rider crosses deserts. He eventually ends up in the
Himalayas.

The Rider climbs a mountain. At top is a FUTURISTIC
STRUCTURE.

INT. FUTURISTIC STRUCTURE - DAY

The Rider knows his way and runs through the structure to a
room with a large bath in the middle. He stops and pulls out
the jar and pours its contents into the pool. The pool
bubbles to life and glows.

INT. GRAYMALKIN

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears. His arm is still in the
process of healing.

                      CABLE
You know, I think I'm going to lay
          down for a bit.

Cable faints.

INT. GRAYMALKIN - LATER

Cable wakes up in a bed. His arm is fully healed. Cable gets
up like a boxer on the morning after a fight. He makes his
way to the command deck of Graymalkin.

                      CABLE
          Professor, reference Apocalypse.

                      PROFESSOR
          One moment. Apocalypse. Immortal
mutant. Born En Sabah Nur, in
          Aqaba, circa the thirtieth century,
B.C. He is believed to be among the
          first homo sapien superior,
          possessing the X-gene. Among his
          powers include--

                      CABLE
          Stop. That's enough.
                (To himself.)
          Nothing's changed. I don't
          understand.

Cable stands and thinks for a moment.

                      CABLE
I have to go further back.

INT. THRONE ROOM - CONTINUED

Cyclops holds Nathan, sure of his death. The rest of the
group stand around. Black Bolt signs to Crystal.

                      CRYSTAL
          Though Attilan has been liberated,
it is hard to consider this a
          victory. All of our medical
          facilities are at your disposal.
          Anything you need, please ask.

                      CYCLOPS
I think we just need a quiet room
          to be alone in...

Just then, SHOOOM. Rachel appears. Jean has a faint sense of
recognition.

                      JEAN
          Have we meant, before?

                      RACHEL
          Not yet, kindred.

                      BEAST
          Another time-traveler?!

                      CYCLOPS
Who are you? Where did you come
          from?

                      RACHEL
I am called 'Askani.' I am from the
future, where your son is a great
          and powerful leader.

                      CYCLOPS
          What do you mean?

                      RACHEL
If you send him with me, we can
          heal him.

                      CYCLOPS
After he's healed, will you send
          him back?

                      RACHEL
          No. We cannot.

                      CYCLOPS
          Why not?

                      RACHEL
Because part of saving him will
involve aging him. The baby Nathan
you know will cease to be. Once he
is sent with me, he becomes Nathan
          Dayspring, Askani'son.

Scott holds his son close to him. Even though he knows what
he must do, he's torn.

                      CYCLOPS
I can't abandon him like that.
There must be some other way.

                      RACHEL
What is, is. You must have faith,
          kindred.

Rachel reaches and holds Scott and Jean's hands. With that,
they are given visions of the future:

RACHEL'S FUTURE VISIONS MONTAGE - VARIOUS

- Nathan enters a machine as an infant, and exits as Cable.

- Cable leads Askani forces against Apocalypse.

- Flashes of Cable meeting Professor Xavier.

END MONTAGE

INT. THRONE ROOM - CONTINUED

A sudden calm comes over Scott. He holds Nathan at arm's
length, to look at him; then pulls him in close and kisses
him.

                      CYCLOPS
Okay. I choose to have faith. I
choose to have hope. If this is
what must be done to save my son,
          this is what we do.

                      BEAST
          Scott, are you sure?

Scott is absorbed, holding his son, and doesn't respond.

                      JEAN
Yes, Hank. There is no other way to
          save Nathan.

Cyclops passes Nathan to Rachel. Rachel holds the baby close
to her.

                      RACHEL
                (Whispering)
          I'll always protect you, baby
          brother, always.

SHOOOM. Rachel disappears, holding Nathan. Cyclops silently
walks away from everyone.

EXT. AQABA, ANCIENT JORDAN - DAY

SUPER: AQABA, 2986 B.C.

EN SABAH NUR (as a teenager) is being chased from the city
by a large group of angry people.

                      CITY DWELLER 1
Be gone, son of Qabeel! You're a
          curse upon everything you touch!

                      CITY DWELLER 2
You are not welcome here, grey
          demon! Leave us!

EXT. JORDANIAN WILDERNESS - MONTAGE

En Sabah Nur wanders the wilderness for several weeks. He is
weak from starvation, but powered by his rage and newly
emerging powers. He lifts and pulverizes boulders without
touching them. Animals scatter from him. He topples and
raises cliffs. Eventually, his rage subsides. He continues
to wander aimlessly, at a dragging, defeated pace.

EXT. AQABA MARKET - DAY

SHYMMM. Flash! Cable appears in the middle of a crowded
market. Those who saw him appear are initially surprised,
then stutter step and continue on as if they didn't see
anything. Cable is dressed to blend in, wearing a thawb,
aba, and kufiya, colored with muted Earth tones. Cable talks
to various people. Eventually he is directed toward his
goal.

EXT. JORDANIAN WILDERNESS - MONTAGE

Cable sets off, tracking En Sabah Nur. He follows the path
of destruction left in the teen's wake.

EXT. JORDANIAN WILDERNESS - NIGHT

Cable catches up with En Sabah Nur near some cliffs. The
teen appears near death. He is dehydrated and starving.

                      CABLE
          This isn't what I expected.

                      EN SABAH NUR
                (Weakly)
          Give me water.

Cable hands the teen his canteen. En Sabah Nur drinks
deeply. His condition immediately improves.

                      EN SABAH NUR
If only I could control the rain...

                      CABLE
          You're En Sabah Nur, correct?

                      EN SABAH NUR
Yes. Have you been sent from Aqaba
          to murder me?

                      CABLE
I'm not from Aqaba. Come on, kid.
          Let's find something to eat.

En Sabah Nur laughs, as an oryx flies through the air and
slams, dead, at their feet.

                      EN SABAH NUR
          Will this do?

                      CABLE
Works for me. Would have been a
better trick if it landed field
          dressed; but you're young. Your
emerging powers are still weak and
          undisciplined.

Cable pulls out his knife and starts to field dress the
carcass. As he does, he also uses telekinesis to set up
camp.

EXT. CAMPSITE - LATER

Cable finishes and walks over to the wood pile. He lights a
fire. He takes skewers of meat and places them around the
fire to cook.

                      CABLE
We'll give those a while to cook.
So, how old are you, kid?

En Sabah Nur remains silent. He stares at Cable.

                      CABLE
Yeah. That's right. I can read your
mind and tell when you're trying to
read mine. Nice try, though. How
about we keep it to talking? I'm
          told I don't talk enough. Why don't
you have a seat? You standing up is
          starting to bother me.

En Sabah Nur sizes up Cable.

                      CABLE
Look, kid, that's not a fight you
want to pick. Sit down. I'll tell
          you a story.

He sits.

                      CABLE
When I was an infant, in the 20th
century of the common era, some
five thousand years in the future,
you kidnapped me and infected me
          with a deadly virus.

Cable takes off the kufiya, revealing his entire face.

                      CABLE
That was my first interaction with
          you.

                      EN SABAH NUR
Are you holding me accountable for
what my future self does, five
          thousand years hence?

                      CABLE
          I wasn't finished. I was sent into
the future, in order to save my
life. Part of saving my life meant
          essentially skipping all of it,
until I became the age I am now.
And I came to find that you were a
          brutal tyrant who enslaved the
          entire planet, humans and mutants.
          You conquer, almost compulsively;
          spreading just like the
          techno-organic infection you bring
with you. You use your powers to
          manipulate and spread chaos. You
          bring about wars, famines, and
disease. You bring death upon all
of your enemies; and make your
servants fight to the death for
your amusement... Which is why I've
come back to kill you, before all
of that. Nip it in the bud, so to
speak. And even though I know this
must be done, I still have to
question, are my actions just, or
are they evil? It's a hell of a
          thing, killing man; however it's
done, whoever it's done to. Is
killing an evil man, evil? I
          suppose on some level it has to be;
and I will have to carry that on my
soul. I look at you, now, at this
age, and I can't help but wonder if
you are, in fact, evil. Can you be
redeemed? Or must you be destroyed?

En Sabah Nur laughs at Cable.

                      EN SABAH NUR
Do you not see? We are beyond good
and evil. When I rise to
preeminence, it will be because I
am most fit; for fitness is the
          justification of survival.

                      CABLE
When you rise to dominate, it is
because you are a viral evil; and
you must be eradicated to cure the
          world.

                      EN SABAH NUR
I would have assumed one as
          powerful as you would understand
          that our existence is our
          justification. The world belongs to
the strong, who are willing to take
it. Though now I see, the fact that
you've traveled back to this meek
point in my life, shows that you
are weaker than me and trying
          desperately to justify your own
existence in this futile attempt to
          destroy me. Pity.

Cable looks into the fire for a moment, then looks up across
it at Apocalypse dead in the eye.

                      CABLE
          Justification. Hmm. Sometimes the
ends justify the means, no matter
the cost to your soul. I see that I
am most likely going to kill you,
unless I can come up with a reason
not to--I am not without mercy.

                      EN SABAH NUR
Who asks the sun to be merciful?
Who asks the sandstorm? Does the
lion spare the lamb? Mercy is just
as alien and nonsensical to me.

Cable smirks.

                      CABLE
I guess you've always been this
          way.

                      EN SABAH NUR
I am that I am, and forever will
          be!

                      CABLE
Yeah. Gotcha. Looks like the meat's
          cooked. Let's eat.

They eat in silence, both staring into the fire, in their
own worlds. After they finish eating, they sleep for the
night.

EXT. CAMPSITE - DAY

Cable is at the fire brewing a pot of coffee. He pours
himself a cup and walks over to En Sabah Nur, who's still
sleeping. Cable kicks the teen in the foot.

                      CABLE
          Come on, kid. Wake up.

En Sabah Nur stirs, groggily, then suddenly, he is wide
awake.

                      CABLE
Alright, kid. I'm willing to sit
here with you and talk this all
through. Maybe you can be someone
else, at this point in your life.
Or maybe you are too far gone. I
want to save my judgement, just in
case; 'cause there's no going back.
What do you think about what I told
          you, yesterday?

                      EN SABAH NUR
I've reflected upon your story and
          the generally patronizing way
you've treated me. You must think
I'm falling for some big joke.
          Reveal your true intentions. Who
          are you?

                      CABLE
          Who said I was jokin'?

                      EN SABAH NUR
You say you came to kill me because
I am a brutal tyrant, but then
saved my life. You say you came to
kill me, yet also say I am an
immortal that cannot die. You claim
          that I am the embodiment of evil;
and if what you say is true--

                      CABLE
Then you have to die. I came back
to this point because your powers
          are just starting to reveal
themselves; you are still mortal. I
don't know for how much longer, but
you can be killed. You were
supposed to be rescued by a man
named Ozymandias; but I got to you
first and I'm here to kill you.
Hell of a thing, killing someone
young, like you. You take away all
they are, or ever will be. You
change the entire future, by taking
them out of it. But, this must be
done. For the sake of the future,
          you must die.

Cable shoots En Sabah Nur. His body is vaporized. Cable
watches as the wind carries the blue and grey mist off,
dispersing it across the wilderness.

                      CABLE
          You're not coming back from this;
not this time. It's done. Time to
          go home.

INT. GRAYMALKIN - SAME

Cable stands looking out at the Earth.

                      CABLE
          I don't understand. It's as if
          nothing has changed.
                (To Professor)
          Professor. Reference Scott Summers.

                      PROFESSOR
          One moment. Scott Summers, former
leader of the X-Men and of
          X-Factor. Possessing the mutant
ability to shoot energy blasts from
his eyes, known as optic blasts.
Married to Jean Grey, teammate in
both X-teams. Together they had a
          son, Nate Grey--

                      CABLE
          Wait. Reference Nate Grey.

                      PROFESSOR
One moment. File contains a single
          note: A.K.A. 'X-Man.' No further
          information is available.

                      CABLE
          That's odd.

Cable looks out the large glass viewing portal at the Earth.

                      CABLE
          Professor. Reference Apocalypse.

                      PROFESSOR
          One moment. Apocalypse. Immortal
          mutant. Born--

                      CABLE
          Stop. I don't understand.

                      PROFESSOR
It appears that you may have
          created an alternate history, but
          Apocalypse has persisted.

                      CABLE
What if I went back and killed
          myself?

                      PROFESSOR
Simple. You will continue to exist,
          as well.

                      CABLE
          But what about Apocalypse?

                      PROFESSOR
          The same.

                      CABLE
          How is that possible?

                      PROFESSOR
          Simple. You are not actually
          destroying yourself. You are
          creating the timeline in which
          Cable-prime is killed by
          Cable-zero.

                      CABLE
          I don't understand. Why wouldn't
          that destroy Apocalypse?

                      PROFESSOR
          The chain of causality necessitated
          by your continued existence
          ultimately results in his.

Deadpool steps into the scene.

                      DEADPOOL
Holy shit. Wait. What? I don't know
if that's a mindfuck or a cop out.
                (To Cable)
Come on, Summers. If there's a way
to kill this asshole, we'll find
          it.

                      CABLE
Where the hell did you come from?

                      DEADPOOL
Me? I don't know. Ask the writer.

                      CABLE
          What?

                      DEADPOOL
Never mind. Let's go have a chat
          with my girlfriend.
                (To Camera)
          The lovely Lady Death.

                      CABLE
That's an idea. But I have
something else in mind. You might
want to leave, unless you want to
          time-travel, again.

                      DEADPOOL
No thanks. I just ate way too many
bean and chili burritos for that.
You mind dropping my off at my
crib? Those hombres are making a
quick run for the border. Got to
make it to the puerta del mierda,
pronto, before I drop a chalupa in
my pants. Red doesn't hide brown,
if you know what I'm sayin'.

the path to the front door. Cable walks up to the door. He
reaches to ring the doorbell, just as Wolverine storms out.
Wolverine is smoking a cigar and puts a shoulder into Cable
on his way by.

                      WOLVERINE
          Watch it, bub.

Wolverine gets on his motorcycle and tears off, leaving
Cable standing at the open door. He turns and walks inside.

INT. X MANSION - CONTINUED

CHARLES XAVIER is waiting in the foyer.

                      XAVIER
          Come in, Nathan. I've been
          expecting you. I have often
          wondered about our first meeting.

                      CABLE
          You knew I would come?

                      XAVIER
          I had a hunch. I believe I can help
you find what you are looking for.

                      CABLE
How do you know what I'm looking
          for?

                      XAVIER
          That doesn't matter, right now.
What matters is that you are here,
and I have a new group of students
in need of a mentor and leader.

                      CABLE
I didn't come to lead any teams. I
came to be mentored by you.

                      XAVIER
All in due time, my boy, all in due
time. You know a great deal about
time; patience, seems to have been
          missed, though.

                      CABLE
          But what about my parents?

                      XAVIER
          For obvious reasons, we'll keep
your identity a mystery from them.
For now, we will call you 'Cable,'
since you serve as a direct link
between the past and the future.
You'll meet the rest of the New
          Mutants, tomorrow.

                      CABLE
So, what do you think I'm looking
          for?

                      XAVIER
          Peace. Of course.

                      CABLE
Peace? How can I be seeking
          something I know nothing about?

                      XAVIER
In due time. For now, I suggest
making use of the bed in your
          quarters and getting some much
          needed sleep; you look exhausted,
Nathan; and there is so much work
          to be done.

                         [END]
